Ms. [redacted] contacted our company to perform her move. She called because she saw our groupon advertised. The groupon is good for use within a TOTAL of 75 miles from our location to any/all of the customers locations/pick ups and back to our location. Ms. [redacted] gave me the address...

of her pick and the address of her destination from Winston-Salem to the other side of Greensboro. When I factored in the mileage using exact addresses the mileage was over 75 miles total. I, as well as my crew leader, John Ingram, told Ms. [redacted] REPEATEDLY, that we would NOT honor the groupon price for her move due to her excess mileage. However, I was nice enough to give her a discount on her move even without the groupon purchase. I told her that for 2 hours of service I would charge her $170, which is an $85 discount off of our normal hourly rate of $255 for 2 hours, then I told her if she used anymore time than 2 hours her rate per hour would be $85 per hour afterwards, our normal rate. Again, we told her we would not honor the groupon price many, many times before her move, and before her slick move of purchasing the groupon, AFTER she was told she would not be able to use it. I have this all documented via email. I also told her if she did not like our rates she was welcomed to check with other moving companies. What bothers me about Ms. [redacted]'s claim is that she makes it sound as though we did not discuss rates with her prior to the move and also let her know that we would by no means accept the groupon. She nearly harassed us to move her by calling myself and John several times to haggle about the price, in which we stood firm.
If she did not like our rates she had EVERY opportunity to find other means to move herself, as we are not in the business of moving people for free. And yes I did tell her if she could not afford movers then she should have moved herself. This seems to be very logical to me, as having movers is a luxury expense which she obviously could not afford. I sent her a statement earlier this week requesting the full payment for her move owed to us, the balance: $170.00.
She will not be receiving any type of apology letter from me as she is the one attempting to run a scam. Furthermore, if the remainder of the payment is not made within 5 more days, I will be taking her to small claims court.
Thank You,
Amy C[redacted]

I have used American Moving and Hauling 3 times! I used them twice while residing in Winston-Salem and this last time I requested their services for a move to another city. Each experience has left me thankful and pleased with the services provided. During my last move, Sheen and Montini were on time and made sure all of my items were handled with care during the entire process. Amy, the owner, is very friendly and professional. She always provides options to assist you with planning and her staff are very professional. The pricing is very reasonable and she is always upfront about the expected cost for services. I would recommend this company to anyone who is moving on a budget. Trust me you wont be disappointed!

Review: American Moving and Hauling not only tried to over charge me they falsly advertised their business on Groupon. After my move was finished 3 1/2 hours later and the gentlemen had only moved 5 boxes, a couch, futon, 6 drawer dresser, 3 draw dresser, queen mattress, a 50inch flat screen tv, and an entertainment center that included 2 glass bookshelves/stands and a television stand. American Moving and Hauling tried to charge me 297.50, and then told me they would not honor my groupon. When I refused to cancel my groupon and pay them cash they treatend to call the police and have me arrested When they realized that didnt scare me the owner Amy C[redacted] decided to text my phone and stating If your broke as couldnt afford movers you should have done your mover yourself, but I guess some ppl (you) are just to lazy. Hope you feel good about being a thief. You know what, Im still taking you to small claims court. Youre not gonna play me hope you like missing several days of work, that is if you have a job have a super day. By this time Im furious, I have already given her the money owed to her and she it cursing at me and trying to be little me like Im worthless. I also received another text from a gentlemen named John saying I told you from the bringing that we will NOT honor the groupon. I will call the police and press full charges. I have everything documented via email and verbal agreements. You owe us directly $297.50 and you can get a refund on your groupon. I not once tried to play them in fact with the groupon I paid $125 and then also gave them $127.50 in cash. They tried to get over on my and make me pay extra they didnt want me to use my groupon because and I quote from Amy C[redacted] " I will honor your groupon price just dont get it because they take out a huge chunk from use". I have also contacted Groupon letting them know about the situation and was told that they can not, not honor any groupon purchased and they have yet to call and change they milage that Amy stated was incorretDesired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund and a written apology from the owner Amy Cushman. She not only tried to belittle me, she was also extremly disrespectful and dishonest. I have supporting emails and text messages.
