April 2, [redacted] ***Dear [redacted] ,In all my years of business, I have never received such a letter stating howdishonest I am and how I take advantage of women because they are ignorantwhen it comes to cars.This is such an insult and your accusations are not true.You brought your car to me and I listened to it running and I verified it had anexhaust leakI explained to you it was probably the flex unit leakingYou made anappointmentWhen you came in for the appointment I gave you a ride to work.After returning to the shop, I began working on your carI removed the head pipefrom the engine and found the cracked pipe on the inside below the flangeIwelded the crack and upon reinstallation replaced the o ring seal on the flangeand noticed a bracket holding the exhaust stable was missingI made a bracketto hold the pipe from breaking againThere was no such check engine light issueat this time.On Monday, March 19th not April 19th you called back and told me the vehicle stillhad a noiseI said I could look at it on Thursday if that was okYou agreed thatThursday would workThen you changed your mind and said you needed the carWednesdayThat is the reason I showed up on Tuesday and picked your car up towork on it, so you would have it back by WednesdayI tried to save time bypicking it up.After arriving back at my shop, I removed the head pipe again to see if there wasa leaksurfaced the flange and reinstalled itAfter the exhaust check I pluggedin my scanner to see about the check engine lightIt read EVAP system leakIthen checked to see that the gas cap was on properly and cleared the code.You stated as soon as you pulled out, the light came on and the noise never reallywent awayI ask why didn't you come right back? I tell my customers, if you haveany problem with your vehicle please come back and I will take care of it.I find it hard to believe you left two messagesI always return my calls promptly.It is good that [redacted] informed you there is a 5% charge for using a creditcardThe notice was provided by my financial institution, it is posted on thecounter and behind the desk at the shop.I repaired your car as outlined on your invoiceThe amount you paid was fair andwill not be refundedYou decided to take your car to another mechanic wherethey completed additional repairsI was honest and treated you with courtesyand respect.I have many women customers that are pleased with the quality of my workIdon't appreciate you stating I take advantage of women as that is simply not true.Sincerely,Rick S [redacted] Owner- American Muffler
