American Rat Control

I was with this company for over 10 years. They had come out monthly for the first 8 years and then the last 2 years, their visits were sporadic, actually only 3 times in 2018. This year they only came out in January. Sometimes they didn't send bills but I always knew they had come by as they would leave notice so I would pay them from bill pay though my bank. Also in February I had an issue with mice and called them three times to help me out but they never called me back. I could not wait any longer and contracted a different company. American called me back a week after the other company had completed service and I told them I was done with them as I had to use someone else. Unfortunately, in April through bill pay I sent them a check for $181.00 which was suppose to go to The Department of Water and Power. It was MY mistake sending them the check but I called them to ask for my money back as I did not owe them anything. They checked my account and said I was correct and they would issue me a refund. Weeks went by and I called them and I was told by *** that the check had gone out. A few weeks later I called again and was told they would send it out. I waited and called again, this time I was told it was sent and hadn't I got it yet? I said no and asked them to run a stop payment, *** said she would check with the owner and call me back. I have called at least a dozen times since that check was cashed in April. They have never denied owing me the money they just refuse to refund it to me. I have been given several different stories and the conversation always ends with them telling me they'll call me right back. Today I called and the receptionist said *** said she would call me back in five minutes. That was five hours ago. I offered to cover the stop payment, I have offered to go pick it up, I asked for a copy of the check it always ends with a promise to call me back and they never,never call me back. I have been patient but tired of the run around.
