American Recovery Corporation Reviews (3)

Review: On June 15th 2015 at approx. 5 pm my car was repossessed from my residence (I was home at the time and saw the tow truck taking the car). I immediately called the finance company to confirm the name of the repossession company so that I could call them to arrange to get my personal effects/possessions from the car. I called American Recovery but there was no answer so I decided to call the next morning. I called American Recovery again the next morning and I asked when I could pick up my and my fiances things from the car. I was told by the woman on the phone that there was a boxing/ storage fee of $40.00 that I would have to pay first. I stated to the woman that it was outrageous that I had to pay a fee for my property from the car when they had the car there less than 24 hours. I also asked why the person repossessing the car did not knock on my door because I was home and would have turned the keys over and cleaned out the car at that time. I was told by the woman on the phone at American Recovery that it was "not their policy to knock on people's doors". I told her that's the most ridiculous thing I had heard and that it was extortion making me pay a fee to them before I'm allowed to get my personal possessions when they've had my car such a short time. I believe they have unfair business practices and are basically extorting money from people and its ridiculous because the company knows that people need to get their items back and American Recovery uses their position of authority to intimidate people into paying their fees.Desired Settlement: I want my and my fiances items returned from my car. I am not paying American Recovery's bogus fee of $40.00 for boxing and storage of items when they have been at their facility less than 24 hours! Its ridiculous and an unscrupulous business practice by American Recovery Corporation that preys on people in a vulnerable position.

6/23/15 Dear [redacted] We are writing you in response to the letter we received in the mail. ID# [redacted] It is illegal in the state of Pennsylvania to make contact with the debtor. If [redacted] watched American Recovery Corporation hook up the vehicle, she could have come outside and driver would have let her remove her items at that time. When vehicle comes to American Recovery Corporation, all items are removed, boxed, inventoried and stored. They are stored inside. They are also sent a certified letter. Items are stored for 30 days. There are many reasons for this. 1) Safety (Care - Control -Custody) 2) If [redacted] watched American Recovery Corporation hook up the car, she could have come out and our driver would have let her remove her property. 3) When a vehicle comes to American Recovery Corporation, ail items are removed, boxed, inventoried and stored indoors. There are several reasons for this. A. if there was (as example) chocolate bars left in the car, in the sun. They would melt and possibly stain other items or interior. B. In cold weather, drinks freeze & bust causing damage. C. If car is picked up and moved to auto auction, debtor may have to drive far as [redacted] to retrieve personal items. 4) Cost-We must buy boxes, tape and pay an employee wages & insurance. Not to mention the cost of a certified letter. In conclusion we would much rather a debtor come out (in a non-hostile state) and remove personal items. Our fee is charged for a service performed at close to or less than our actual cost. We actually would like to knock ail debtor's doors to remove items, however it is illegal for American Recovery Corporation to do so. Our opinion is we hope we never see personal property, as it is, just a necessary evil. If you have any other questions feel free to call our office.Regards,Peter [redacted] President

Review: American Recovery listed my address to [redacted] Corporation as the address where a repossessed vehicle was pick up at. This information is false. I contacted American Recovery to inform them of the error and I contacted [redacted] Corporation. The employees of American Recovery refused to address the issue of giving false information and listing my address as where the vehicle was picked up from. The vehicle that was repossessed has not been located at my address for over 4 months. American Recovery's driver was at my house and I showed him that I did not have the vehicle in my possession on 12-01-2015. American Recovery has provided false information to Primeritus - the sub company and to the financial institution - [redacted] Corporation.Desired Settlement: For American Recovery to update the address with [redacted] Corporation. For American Recovery to update the address with the company who subed the job out to them - [redacted]. The vehicle in question has not been at my address for over 4 months.

Response:

We have corrected the address where the vehicle was secured from with all parties involved. This was done as soon as it was brought to our attention. We had apologized to [redacted] when she had called into our company.

Review: Personal property not returned in full when I retrieved my vehicle on January27, 2014. Either a. Misplaced items by business or b. stolen/theft. Two employees, one claiming to be the owner of the company, [redacted], were acting very shady and showing no professionalism. Not having my personal things that I bought, that still had the tags on them is causing me a great deal anxiety and distress.Desired Settlement: I want my possessions back immediately to resolve this issue. State police involvement is subject due to investigate otherwise.

Response:

We are writing in response to the complaint that we received on 1/30/14 ~ ID[redacted] vehicle was brought to our location on 1/19/14 at approximately 2pm. At this time all persona! property was inventory and removed from the vehicle.

On 1/27/14, [redacted] came to our storage lot to claim per personal property and vehicle. She received her vehicle and all of her personal property out of the vehicle at this time. [redacted] then came back to the window and stated that she was missing a pair of panties out of vehicle. She was advised that anything that was inside of the vehicle would be inside of her boxes of items that she was given back. She then left our lot. [redacted] called office several times that afternoon and with each call stated that more and more items were missing.

[redacted] was asked to produce a receipt for items however she stated that she was not able to do so. We advised her that if she would be able to produce receipt get back in touch with us.
