My name is [redacted] & I'm the POA for my Aunt, [redacted]. This ARP company has been deducting $19/mo from her checking account. It is a scam.auto withdraw $19/mo from her checking account without her valid consent. I have mailed them a letter and notified the State Attorney General. My aunt is on the National Do Not Call List and the Direct Mailing Removal list. These thieves MUST stop preying on the elderly. She's 92 yrs. old and on a very limited income. Please make them stop. There is also a $19.90/mo withdrawal for an International travel service XXX-XXX-XXXX. If they are in TN, they need to stop as well. I'm going to try to call them tomorrow.Desired SettlementIf possible, we would like a full refund. If not, they just need to STOP the withdrawals now and remove her address previously listed and her phone number XXX-XXX-XXXX from their call lists.this is ridiculous.Business Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry. ARP did not stop debiting bank account when requested 3 times.ARP did not refund debits of bank account as they indicated they would, when requested.ARP was contacted three different times to stop debiting bank account (last four digits of [redacted] of $19/month starting in April, 2010. A recent fourth call to Operator [redacted] and then Supervisor [redacted] (operator ID: [redacted] indicated a refund would be issued by October 24, 2013. She also indicated I could call her back on October 28, 2013, if the bank account wasn't credited. On October 28, 2013, another call to Supervisor [redacted] yielded: another request for account crediting ($798 - refund of all monies dating back to first cancelation phone call in April, 2010). [redacted] indicated there was no way to determine why the refund didn't go through as that was processed by a different department. She also indicated that she had no contact information for that department. I then spoke to Supervisor [redacted] supervisor, Supervisor [redacted] (operator ID [redacted] Supervisor [redacted] indicated they "don't have that information" when asked why the refund didn't through, or what was going to be different about this debit cessation and account refund request from the prior four.Desired SettlementBoth of the following:1) Refund of $798 to bank account ending 6405.2) Cessation of $19 monthly debit from bank account ending 6405.Lastly, please accept my sincere appreciation for your help in this matter that continues to take $19/month from an elderly man who hasn't seen or used ARP's "sweepstakes" service since being admitted into an assisted living facility in March 2010.Business Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry. Box 770546Memphis, TN 38177888-215-9441Consumer Response The issue is not resolved; however I do apologize for the tardy response. While it does appear the bank account ending in 6405 is no longer being debited, American Report Publishing did NOT refund the requested amount of $798, but instead issued a check for $300. Additionally, the check was issued from a Canadian Post Office Box, originating in Vancouver, BC. The accompanying note indicated if there are questions, American Reporting Publishing should be contacted directly, which results in the similar continuous loop behavior that resulted in the creation of this complaint in the first place. The end result: once again American Reporting Publishing did not follow through on what they claimed they would do and my father continues to be out his hard earned monies for a service which he never saw with cancellation requests dating back to April, 2010. Additionally it appears his name and address was sold to at least one other "sweepstakes" company as an equally misleading offer from a different company has arrived. To correct the wrong that continues to be unresolved, American Reporting Publishing would need to refund the remaining $498.Thank you again for your assistance,[redacted]Business Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry. Targeting a 94 year old man and taking 19.00 dollars out of his checking account for at least 5 months if not more on the promise of a prize. My father paid 7.00 dollars to enter some sort of contest, not understanding that he was giving permission to take 19$ a month from his account. I can trace this back to April of this year, bit it may go back further.Desired SettlementI want the 19$ for each month he was taken advantage of to be refunded into his bank account,at least 5 months or more. My 79-year old Mother with Dementia has had $19 deducted from her checking acct since 2/1/12. Charge was not authorized! ARP preys on elderly!ARP, or American Reporting Publishing is running a scam and preying on elderly victims. My 79-year old Mother, [redacted], has had $19/month withdrawn from her checking account--unauthorized--since 2/1/12! Multiple Myeloma in 2008 has left my Mother with advanced Alzheimers. When she received sweepstakes notices in the mail or solicitations, she treated them as if they were bills due and paid whatever was asked. ARP sent her a "sweepstakes" notice and requested the bargain of $7. She was not aware, nor was it apparently disclosed to her, that the $7 check was just a scam to obtain her checking account number. Please shut this organization down! I request your help in (1) making this scam group cease withdrawing unauthorized funds from my mother's checking account; and (2) obtaining a refund of $361 (19 months x $19/month). Thank you for any assistance you can provide. [redacted]My mother's address to stop the unauthorized automatic withdrawals:[redacted]Desired SettlementPlease provide assistance in:(1) Making this scam group cease withdrawing unauthorized funds from my mother's checking account.(2) Obtaining a refund of $361 (19 months x $19/month). Unauthorized debits against my checking account. I have contacted ARP and they are a fraud machine. Look up complaints on the internet.Firm has debited my chekcing account without authorization. I have contacted the firm and they are a fraud machine. Will not stop debits. They should be put out of business and arrested for mail and internet fraud.Desired SettlementI want their automated debits to stop. Account is under the names of [redacted] and [redacted] at [redacted] with address of XXXXX [redacted] XXXXX. They go by initials ARP so it looks like AARP and debit $19 per month which can be easily overlooked by seniors who think it is AARP. FRAUD. Am also contacting the Tennessee Attorney General to file a compliant there.Business Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry. Unauthorized withdrawal of $19 per month for 19 months. I respectfully request your assistance in resolving the fraudulent unauthorized charges being withdrawn monthly from my elderly Mother's checking account by American Reporting Publishing (ARP). Multiple Myeloma in 2008 caused lesions in my Mother's brain and large lytic lesions in her skull. Since that time, there has been a rapid decline in her health along with the rapid onset of Alzheimer's. She is incapacitated and incapable of making financial decisions or even understanding the mail that she receives. ARP, and scammers like them, prey on the elderly. The majority of the mail sent to my Mother is comprised of solicitations for money and scams. Before my family assumed the responsibility for her mail, my Mother treated all such requests for money as if they were bills that she was obligated to pay. She paid whatever was requested on the correspondence. Unfortunately, she received mail from ARP, and her response unwittingly provided them with her banking information. On 2/1/12, she mailed a $7 check to ARP Sweepstakes, which gave them her checking account number. Since that time, ARP has automatically withdrawn $19 per month from my Mother's checking account. She was not advised that she was authorizing a monthly withdrawal of funds from her account, nor would she even have been able to understand if it had been explained to her. The internet is full of similar complaints against this organization, and the victims are always elderly, with many of them suffering Alzheimer's or dementia. All tell similar tales. There is an initial check given to them that provides the bank account information, and then there are automatic withdrawals, and it is nearly impossible to make ARP stop. My family would appreciate any assistance you can provide in (1) requiring the scammers to stop the automatic withdrawals; and (2) obtaining a refund of $361 ($19/month for 19 months). My Mother's information is: [redacted] XXXXX. I understand from others that if a request is made to ARP to stop withdrawing funds, they assure it will be done and nothing happens other than the withdrawals continue. Desired Settlement1. Stop the unlawful withdrawal of funds from my Mother's checking account.2. Refund funds IN FULL. $19 x 19 = $361.3. Order this company to cease and desist.Business' Initial Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry. Box 770546Memphis, TN 38177888-215-9441Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)July 26, 2013Dear Revdex.com:I am receipt of the response submitted by American Reporting Publishing. The internet has site after site after site and page after page after page of complaints about this company. I appreciate their response, but most people indicate they are told a refund would be issued and the automatic deductions stopped, but it never happens. I would like to reserve accepting their resolution until a refund is received and I have evidence that they cease their illegal activity of withdrawing money from my elderly mother's bank account. I vehemently disagree with their statement that they provide a "published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes." My mother's mail comes to me and they have never issued a subscription of any kind, They state they are canceling the subscription. There never has been a subscription. This is the smoke screen they are hiding behind. This company is blatantly stealing from sick and elderly people with dementia, Alzheimer's, brain damage, and a plethora of other debilitating illnesses. They indicate a refund would be received by mail within 4 business days. I would like to leave this complaint open for 30 days until the refund is received and no further funds are withdrawn. Samples of comments from various websites are included below. I think it is clear from the list the audience they target. Thank you.[redacted]Mad in MN20 Feb 2010Yes, the same is true for my father in law. $171 was taken out of his account. $19/mo for 9 months. He cancelled the subscription, but has not recieved any money back.oCrash replies to hill29 Mar 2012Nothing but problems with these people, never issue refund or cancel account as "Promised"! They are such a scam and hiding behind a "Call Center" and P.O. Box is just shameful and should be against the law! I am taking action by filing a complaint with the state attorney, Revdex.com and FTC. I hope that others will take action as well, I urge you to please TAKE ACTION and let us all put a stop to these types of companies who pray on our elderly loved ones and siphon their bank accounts, this is just out right a shame and it needs to be stopped!! Please join me in putting a stop to these people!!Reply!* 0mc17 Sep 2012I have also been looking over my mothers bank statements to find that this company has been scamming her for several years she has no clue who they are or how they got her bank info. ARP charged me for service, which I informed them I do not want or need. I contacted ARP in Nov 2012 requesting they cancel the service. On Oct 2011, I complained to Revdex.com about this company because they have been taking money from my acct from 2009 to 2011. I asked my bank to block ARP to prevent them from debiting my account. The bank informed me today they only blocked ARP for one year. In Aug 2012, ARP began debiting my account again and continued for 15 months. They took $19.00 every month for a total of $285 dollars. I requested my bank [redacted] to block ARP again for a year. The Credit Union charged me an additional $20 again. Today, 27 Nov I called ARP told them for a second time that I do not want their service and to stop debiting my account. The ARP Operator name [redacted] would not assist me with determining when they began to take money out of my account again so I had to contact the Credit Union to determine the extent of ARP's debits to my account. It took me five hours to determine all of the damage they have done to my checking account. I request your assist to ensure ARP repays me all the money they took from my checking account ($285) and to prevent ARP from regenerating a debit in the future from my account without my written permission. Desired SettlementI want full refund $325.00 to cover bank transaction of $20 each. I want written assurance from ARP or Revdex.com that ARP will not debit my account ever again without my knowledge.Business Response Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Reporting Service.American Reporting Publishing report provides you with a published report that contains Cash and Prizes Sweepstakes for your personal entry.
