American River RV, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: Purchased the new vehicle in good faith on March 31, 2016. From April 10, 2016 through May 1, 2016, I identified numerous items in "need of repairs", some major and some safety hazards. (See attached documents). I addressed a letter to the CEO Mr. [redacted], dated April 22, 2016, addressing my concerns and interest. As of June 15, 2016, I have not received a reply be endorsement from Mr [redacted]. May 28, 2016, I spoke with Mr [redacted] briefing and he stated he would get his people on the RV to complete work. American River RV had had the RV unit from May 4, 2016 through June 15, 2016 6 weeks. Cross reference the "Time frame" and "Items in need of repair" this does not add up.Desired Settlement: I feel and do believe ALL of the noted areas of interested (on the attached documents) should have been addressed and correction action taken prior to the sale of said RV unit. Because of this, I have unable to utilize the RV unit for 6 weeks. (May 4, 2016 - June 15, 2016).

Response:

Our service manager [redacted] has been in communication with Mr [redacted] every week. I did receive the letter and I had [redacted] follow up rite away. We have taken care of all the issues on the rv except for the issue with the turn signals. We have called both [redacted] and [redacted] and are still working with them to find a fix for this issue. We cannot repair this issue without coachmen and dodge getting involved. If Mr [redacted] would like to take it to a dodge dealer himself and see if they will repair it we have no problem with that as it is under factory warranty still. But until coachmen and dodge give us a fix we cannot complete the work.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: The reply from American River RV does not address ALL my concerns & interest. The time frame of almost seven (7) weeks to accomplish said items in need of repair or attention is uncalled for. Reference items/areas to be repaired or attention & seven (7) weeks do not add up!!!! No reply from the CEO to my letter dated April 22, 2016. All these items identified in need of repair & attention should have been accomplished prior to releasing the RV unit to said buyer. Refer to everything identified on the initial complaint.

Response:

Mr [redacted] what would you like me to do? I've personally been on the phone with [redacted] RV half the day today to get a resolution to the tailight issue. We believe we have it figured out and will be taking it over to dodge to resolve the issue. We haven't refused to fix it we are just working with coachmen to figure out the taillight issue. I'm hoping once we take it to dodge this week the issue will be resolved. All the other issues you have have been resolved and jerry has gone over that with you.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: There are other issues besides the maintenance issues. I have contact my lawyer & I expect you will hear from him during the week of June 27, 2016.

Review: We purchased a used motor home from American River RV located in Davis Ca on 8/28/2015. American River RV promised all items on an 8 page "pre-purchase check on used RV" check list would be carefully reviewed by their service manager and items requiring repair would be repaired prior to us taking delivery of the RV. When we arrived to take delivery, we went through the RV with the service manager for about 2 hours and most items were found to be working. We asked about the patio awning and were told it was good. We asked about the black and gray tank level gauges that were still reading approx. 50% full each after dumping instead of 0% full, and were told the insides of the tank were still wet hence the false reading. The next day the awning was found to have a 3" tear, and the motor would not retract after extended. The tank levels are still reading 50% full and not working. Numerous other items have also been found to need repair that should have been covered under the check list, including switch lights not working, broken cabinet door latches, generator slide and auto leveler working intermittently, transmission temp gauge not working, carpet on bed pedestal jams when slide retracts, broken ice maker, missing smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector outdated, torn slide rubber transition strip, Monaco door handle light not working, leaking gray tank valve, and unbalanced front tires (created shimmy until balanced).Desired Settlement: The list of 24 items needing repair were provided to the service manager, and he agreed to repair only 6 of them at their location in Davis. He said the owner indicated we purchased the RV "as is". Because Davis is 94 miles one way from Windsor, and only 6 items would be repaired, we prefer to have ALL of the repairs performed locally and American River RV compensate us the cost for these repairs, plus the $250 deductible for repairs performed under service contract(s).

Response:

Customer was given full walk through at delivery and gone over all the appliances and systems. After the walk through the customer accepted the RV and we had him sign an as is and due bill. As you can see on the due bill no promises or repaired were mentioned. Jerry agreed to repair the initial 6 issues customer had rite after he picked it up and we stand behind that. Customer was offered an extended warranty which would cover any issues that occurred. Customer declined. Customer has also mentioned he would call his credit card company and dispute the $2000 deposit he gave us if we did not repair his issues. We have a signed receipt that he made that charge. I believe that is not a good tactic. We did not fraudulently charge his card. We still stand behind our promises we made on the original 6 items. Also customer is required to bring the rv here to our dealership and leave it until those items are repaired. We cannot fix it in one day.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: The check list was not given to me and was not used at the time the technician [redacted] went over the motorhome at time of delivery. The check list was given to me by the salesman the week prior who promised everything on the list would be checked and corrected prior to delivery. The horizontal leveling system was not checked at time of delivery, nor was the transmission temp gauge, CO2 (outdated) and smoke detector (missing), leaking gray tank drain valve, jamming carpet on bed pedestal, numerous lights not working and broken cabinet latches. I asked [redacted] about the patio awning, he said it was good. It was not good, the awning was torn and the motor would no retract. I asked [redacted] about the gray and black tank gauges, he said they were not reading correctly because the tank insides were wet. These gauges are still not working. I signed the "as is" page because of the American River RV promise that everything on the check list would be checked and corrected if needed, and because if I was told something was good, I was not being mislead.

Response:

Customer also signed an as is agreement after walk through given. As is Clearly states the coach is sold as is. I have attached a copy with his signature. Also sending Another copy of the due bill which has no promises made.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I signed the "as is" document because I was told everything on the check list would in fact be checked and repairs made where needed before I accepted delivery of the motor home. The check list was not used and not every item on the check list was reviewed when we went through the motor home at time of acceptance. The items on the check list still needing repair and that needed repair when I accepted the motor home are identified on the list provided to American River RV and the Revdex.com. When I asked about 2 of the items at time of acceptance, the patio awning condition and operation, and gray and black tank level gauge operation, I was told by the technician they were good, which they were not. I was mislead on these 2 items, and the rest of the items still needing repair were either missed or ignored by American River RV. Can American River RV provide a copy of the check list used for our motor home?
