Review: This storage facility has various discount rates, sometimes it buy one month get four months free sometimes it's rent a controlled unit (air conditioning) get two months free, sometimes it's rent one month get three months free, I received a statement on February 1, 2014 it read my unit number 236, it read 0 balance owed 0 balance late, 0 balance on the total. I called and asked why are sending me a statement period. I don't owe until March 5, 2014. I spoke to [redacted] he said he didn't know why I received a statement. Then I read it to him and said besides its a statement for zero balances... [redacted] said well you don't owe anything. I received a call on Sunday February 9, 2014 that my storage is late. This storage is notorious for doing this in order to collect late fees from people and this has been going on for YEARS. I need your help please. I have the statement. Thank you.Desired Settlement: Please have them adjust my statement and send me a corrected one with my first payment as March 2014.

I have received the RevDex.com complaint# [redacted] from [redacted].
We have conducted a review of
[redacted]’s account and certify the foregoing is the chronology of events.
First I would like to explain
that we do from time to time have free rent specials. In her case, she received one of our best
free rent specials which was given to her upon contracting with us on
10/4/13. She paid the first month of
rent and received three months of free rent which paid her to 2/4/14. She states that her rent is paid until
March. However, her Rental Agreement
shows free rent totaling 3 months and the Move-In Receipt clearly shows the
paid to date of 2/4/14. She can obtain
copies if necessary.
On 1/21/14, prior to her rent
becoming due, we sent her a courtesy “Monthly Statement” showing a zero balance
and stating that her rent would be due on 2/4/14, copy attached and name
redacted. Her rent became due on 2/4/14. We gave her a courtesy call on 2/9/14, which
is 6 days prior to a late fee being assessed.
On 2/10/14 she called, the manager explained that her rent was due and
she would incur a late fee if she didn’t pay her rent by 2/14/14. On 2/15/14 (11 days after rent due date) the
rent remained unpaid so a late fee was assessed and a late notice was sent. As of today 2/25/14, she has failed to pay
her rent and is delinquent at this time.
American River Self Storage takes
pride in providing good customer service and low cost rent. Furthermore, we make every attempt to treat
all customers fairly and respectfully.
We are members of the Self- Storage Association and the California Self
Storage Association. As such we abide by
and follow the California Self storage Facility Act. Chapter 10 division 8 of
the business and professions code. The
law has a set schedule of late fees/procedures and lien procedures that we
follow.
It is very unfortunate that
[redacted] has refused to pay her rent on time as agreed to in her rental
agreement. If her rent remains unpaid,
she will be assessed a Pre-Lien fee on 3/2/14.
We believe it would be unfair
to publish a complaint of this nature against American River Self Storage as
[redacted]’s complaint is not valid.
Furthermore, she has not fulfilled her obligation to pay rent on time
per the rental agreement.
Sincerely,
Senior Manager
