American RV Center, Inc. Reviews (1)

The RV was defective from the 1st day it was taken off the lot.On Saturday, August 24, 2013 we purchased a 2008 [redacted] from American RV in Olive Branch, MS. That same day we took the RV to [redacted] Lake. The air condition did not work correctly. We are not air conditioner repair people so we had no idea what was wrong with it. We thought maybe it was just the electricity at the campsite so we took the camper home and plugged it in and the air conditioner seemed to work fine. That same day it rained and the camper leaked so severely we had to sit with a towel under the window to soak up the water that was running in. We did not pursue the issue thinking that it was just an electrical problem at the campsite and not to waste $4.00 a gallon diesel fuel, I caulked the window myself. On Monday, August 26, 2013, I called American RV and reported the problems. On Friday, August 30, 2013 we went camping in Sardis, MS. The air conditioning once again did not work correctly. I called American RV Saturday morning and no one answered. I had [redacted] mobile phone so I called her and she gave me the phone number to the mobile rv repair person that American RV uses. We called him and told him what it was doing he said it sounded like a sensor if we wanted to come get one he had one. We drove from Sardis, MS to Olive Branch, MS purchased the part and drove back to Sardis, MS.On Monday, September 2, 2013 we left Sardis, MS headed to Southaven, MS. Just past Senatobia, MS on I-55, the driver's side front section of the camper blew off. We pulled over on the side of the road to see exactly what had happened. Upon inspection, the entire front of the camper was rotted where the fiberglass was missing. On Tuesday, September 3, 2013, the RV was returned to American RV. Per the Sales Manager, they would take care of us. We were given three options:1. They would repair the camper.2. They would trade ours for another RV.3. They would buy us out of ours for what we owe.We decided on option 2. We found one listed at $23,995. We owe $18,801.19, not including the repairs done. We were told they would run the numbers and get back with us. On Wednesday, September 04, 2013, we were told by the owner that the difference between ours and the one we want to get is a $7K + difference. They said our agent (our banker) talked them down to $17K on the RV we purchased less than 2 weeks ago that original started at $20K. The original price on the RV was $18,995. I am not sure where they came up with $20K. American RV accepted the offer from our bank, if they did not want to sell it at that price, they should have said no. Now they are not wanting to do anything but fix the RV. I do not trust them to fix it correctly and I am not willing to risk my 4 children's health staying in a camper with extensive water damage. My youngest son has asthma and I will not take a chance of there being mold in the rest of the camper. Desired SettlementI would like to have the money back for what we owe on the camper and the money that we have put in the camper. We fixed the air conditioner AND the leak out of our own pocket. Business Response This is in response to Case #XXXXXXXX, filed by [redacted], September 4, 2013. Contrary to [redacted]'s assertion in her complaint that she would not trust American RV to repair the subject RV, she indeed brought the unit back to ARV for repair of the items in question. The unit was fully repaired and returned to the [redacted] Monday, September 30, 2013. [redacted] told ARV's Service Director, [redacted] that she was completely satisfied with the repairs. Indeed, she also said she would write a follow up to Revdex.com confirming the above. Thank you for your attention to this matter.[redacted]President American RVOlive Branch, MS
