American Service Corporation Reviews (4)

For a company that said it does work in the Fan and Museum District, I was disappointed that they would not come work on my roof top HVAC system. In addition, I found their professionalism over the phone was lacking.

[redacted] from ASC is our hero! After dealing with a heating problem with another company for a full month, [redacted] came to our house and completely fixed our problem in less than one hour. [redacted] was professional, knowledgeable, on time (actually early!) and he explained the problem clearly. [redacted] had everything he needed right in his truck, so there was no waiting for parts to be ordered etc. We are so relieved to finally have our heat back on. [redacted] saved the day!

Review: RE: American Service Corp -- Invoice No. [redacted] - [redacted]

I was wondering whether or not you would be refunding me back the $75.00 check that I paid for a diagnosis, since; clearly no proper diagnosis was made of my issue?

Here is what happened: A technician came out to my home on March 1, 2014. It took him all of 60 seconds. He then asked for a check, didn’t write down any part numbers or ascertain what was needed in order to address my heating issues. I received a call the next day March 3, 2014 that my part had been ordered.

It was not until March 24, 2014 (3 weeks later) after I had endured intolerable weather while having no heat all that time that I learned YOUR technician had ordered the wrong part and that the [redacted] considered the part I needed an ADD ON and would not be paying the claim. I received this phone call on the day of -- after the work was already scheduled to be done that following Monday at 9:00.

To add insult to injury, your office called me stating that they still would be willing to do the work if I paid them, and quoted me 900+ dollars. I then, unlike the technician you sent, wrote down the model number of the Power Vent and name of the manufacturer, whom I called whereby the company who made the part sold it to me for just $244.00 with Free Shipping that will be delivered to me in just two days tops! I already have the tracking number! Your company’s customer service and insensitivity to the requirements are horrible.

After not providing the service for the money you collected, you then added insult to injury by attempting to gouge me for a part 5 times the amount it really cos. You only had to do an installation that would have only required 1 1/2 hours at most since all that was required was to swap one part out and put in the new!

If I can do this so can anyone else who is suppose to be an electrician? So to this end, I will be filing this complaint with my [redacted] against your company and any other office that documents this type of incompetence and price gouging. I once was impressed with your company, but now, will NO LONGER be doing business with you!

Sent to the President of the Company 3/28/2014Desired Settlement: I want my money back (3 times the amount) for the non diagnosis I received for my check and the fact that I had to endure 3 weeks of intolerable weather conditions before I found out that the company ordered the wrong part.

Response:

I spoke with [redacted] from the company and she stated that they went out to the consumer's home through her home warranty company. They diagnosed the problem with the power venter. The company went back to the home warranty company to order to power venter and was approved by the home warranty company. The company went back out to the consumer's home and found out the wrong party was ordered by the [redacted]. The consumer bought a part for $244 and the company thinks that might be the same part the [redacted] ordered first. The reason the power venter is $995 and that includes part, labor tax etc. [redacted] tried to reach the consumer several times about the part and could not get a hold of the consumer. The $75 is the deductible for the company to go out to the consumer's home and diagnosis the problem which is what they did. The home warranty company ordered the wrong part.

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Company collected $75.00 for service call that they (clearly) did not earn. Customer suffered 3 weeks for their mistake during a state of emergency had been declared in the State of Virginia. Since she was without heat. $995.00 for a part that only costed 239.00 (part) is an unreasonable cost for labor. Customer has the original part for the Power Venter. The same part number and manufacturer. The part costed $239.00. Under the circumstances to take 3 weeks to then find out that what was ordered is wrong is unacceptable.

[redacted] company did not come to my home, they order the part based on the contractors diagnosis. They are not the persons responsible for the incompetence of their technicians. I would like it documented that the company in a nutshell is collecting a $75.00 fee for non performance. After a claim is rejected because of "their" unreasonableness, then take advantage of the consumers by charging absorbent and unreasonable fees.

[redacted] company first approved the repair (for apparently what was ordered wrong) but when the contractor went back 3 weeks later to change the order with their outlandish fee ($995 quote), this is when it was denied. It is not fair for a consumer to pay for routine maintenance and have their claims denied because of greedy contractor who try to get more than is required.

Regards,

My experience with this company was fantastic. Our control board for our heater broke in the middle of single digit temperatures. They came out on a Saturday and diagnosed it and 3 days later came out with very icy roads and fixed it in 5 minutes. . very friendly and considerate.
