To Whom This May Concern: Heartland ECSI is the third party billing servicer on behalf of [redacted] We have reviewed Mr [redacted] ’s account and balance history which reflected a balance of $at the start of the reviewThis balance was due to a shortage of the payoff received June 9, On June 13, Mr [redacted] called in to Heartland ECSI’s call center to confirm his payoff was received and his balanceOur representative explained there was a small balance due to past due interest accrued at the time the payoff was received, and how a payment could be madeOur representative provided our website to Mr [redacted] , and also emailed credentials to himMr [redacted] asked about getting a clearance letter, and he was informed that after he paid the remaining balance the school would send to himDuring the time after this call no additional payments have been receivedThis shortage has continued to increase over the past months with fees and interest On November 29, after receiving Mr [redacted] ’s complaint and reviewing his account history Heartland ECSI reached out to [redacted] University confirmed that the account was not in a paid in full status and there was still a balanceDuring that communication the representative from [redacted] University agreed to waive the past due interest, accrued fees, and the remaining principal balance back to the original date of the payoff received June 9, On November 30, the adjustments to Mr [redacted] ’s account were completed which included updating the credit reporting to show the account as paid in full back to June Updated information that has been reported to the credit agencies may take 30-days to update On November 30, an attempt was made by Heartland ECSI representatives to contact Mr [redacted] to discuss the outcome of our research and inquiry with [redacted] At this time a message was left for Mr [redacted] If Mr [redacted] would like to talk with us directly, or has any other questions, he is welcome to contact our Customer Service Department at [redacted]

March 20, ID: [redacted] [redacted] To Whom This May Concern: Heartland ECSI is the third party billing servicer for student loans on behalf of Loma Linda University We have received Mr [redacted] ’s account and determined that the University’s student loan servicing was transferred from ACS to Heartland ECSI in December At the time the loan is transferred from the previous student loan servicer (ACS) to Heartland ECSI, we delivered a Welcome Letter that contains all pertinent transfer information such as contact, website, billing date, and recurring payments Also, we provide a 60-day grace period from the date of the transfer which is outlined in the Welcome Letter This means that during the 60-day period after the loan was transferred, no late fees are applied, and credit reporting is heldIn Mr [redacted] ’s case, the credit reporting would begin March On March 13, 2018, Mr [redacted] talked with a customer service advocate Our advocate was able to assist him with the use of the website, including disabling his pblocker which is required to view online billing statements Mr [redacted] set up recurring payments on January 4, 2018, and the statements generated January 22, 2018, and February 21, 2018, indicated that the recurring payment was not sufficient to cover the monthly installmentsThe additional amount of $is equal to the amount that was not covered by the recurring payments of $for the February and March installments, and the amount of $would be the total amount due for his March installment should Mr [redacted] which to cancel his $recurring paymentOur customer service advocate also explained that the credit reporting would not be starting until the end of March, and his account would not be reported lateOur customer service advocate confirmed Mr [redacted] had set up a payment to bring his account current, and Mr [redacted] would need to set up new recurring payments for an amount equal to or greater than his installment amount due for future paymentsThe statement for Mr [redacted] ’s April 10, 2018, installment would be generated on/about March 20, 2018, which would show his account is current and in good standing On March 15, 2018, and March 16, 2018, Heartland ECSI attempted to contact Mr [redacted] to inquire if he needed additional assistanceEach time a message was left for her to contact our officeIf he would like to talk with us directly, or has any other questions, he is welcome to contact our Customer Service Department at [redacted]

Heartland ECSI is a third party loan servicer that servicesstudent loans on behalf of multiple colleges, universities and the departmentof educationPerkins loans regulations and credit reporting laws regardingstudent loans do not allow Heartland ECSI to change credit reporting forbilling issues Multiple emails were sent to alert the account holder of the impending negativecredit reporting as soon as the first payment was missedOn 12/23/an urgentlate notice was mailed to the address on fileThat address was updated by somebodylogging into the University of Miami ECSI account on 2/24/A diluentnotice call was made on 12/26/to the phone number that was verifiedcorrect on 2/24/when the University of Miami online account was accessedLettersand calls were made monthly until 4/7/At that time the account was putwith a collection agency per University of Miami due to nonpaymentWhen an account that Heartland ECSI services is sent to collections the onlineaccount will state to call ECSI to make a payment or go over account specifics.It doesn’t allow a user to make an online payment and it will not state themonths past due or the current account balance as it may differ to what thecollection agency hasAt this current time Heartlands website will not show multipleloans with separate schoolsHowever you must login with the “school code”.Each school has its own login since we are a third party servicer and not aconsolidation companyThat is why a specific schools code is needed to loginInthis instance we would suggest rehabilitation if the school is willing toremove it from collectionsAs that’s the only way to remove credit reportingfrom this type of federal loanSince that has been done there isn’t anything elseHeartland ECSI can do in this situation

February 15, ID: [redacted] [redacted] To Whom This May Concern: Heartland ECSI is the third party billing servicer for student loans on behalf of Pomona CollegeOn February 1, Heartland ECSI received a call from Mr [redacted] requesting that the payment applied to his [redacted] loan be adjusted and applied to his [redacted] loanOn February 9, the adjustment was completedOn February 9, Mr [redacted] contacted Pamona College through email who confirmed that the payments had been adjusted On February 12, Heartland ECSI attempted to reach Mr [redacted] to discuss his loans and payment optionsA message was left for Mr [redacted] to contact us at his earliest opportunityOn February 12, Mr [redacted] contacted Pamona College through email who confirmed that the loans were showing current and in good standingHeartland ECSI welcomes Mr [redacted] to set up a user profile on our account portal which can be found at https://heartland.ecsi.netOnce a user profile is created, Mr [redacted] will need to link his Pamona College account using his Heartland Key numberThe Heartland Key can be located in the upper right hand area of all printed and mailed communications from Heartland ECSIThe Heartland Key is a 17-character alphanumeric number (including a hyphen)Users can also search for their Heartland Key using their first name, last name, Social Security Number and zip codeMr [redacted] can review both of his loans’ information online after profile is created and account has been linkedUsers paying through our account portal have several options when making a payment onlineSome of these payment methods may result in a service fee being added to a payment amount thereby increasing the total paymentService fee and payment options are disclosed upon entry into our online payment portal, and the applicable service fees are displayed after the payment has been selected and enteredThe user does have the ability to review this information before submitting the paymentIf Mr [redacted] would like to talk with us directly, or has any other questions, he is welcome to contact our Customer Service Department at [redacted]

Please note Heartland ECSI is a third party loan servicer for [redacted] ***Ms [redacted] Federal Perkins Loan was in student deferment/grace until August 1st with the first payment due on 08/01/The July 20th payment submitted online by [redacted] was rejected on 07/24/by her financial institutionMs [redacted] ’s bank stated the account number submitted was not recognizedAn email was sent on July 24th to ***’s email account in an effort to notify her of the payment rejectingOn 08/11/***’s account was days past dueA late notice was mailed to the address on her account.On 08/27/Ms [redacted] logged into her online Heartland ECSI account and made one electronic check payment for $This payment was rejected by her bank on 09/04/for the same reason listed aboveAlso on the 27th Ms [redacted] setup reoccurring monthly payments to start on 9/20/By submitting a payment online Ms [redacted] agreed to the terms and conditions which required her to verify the bank account information entered was correct.On 09/11/a letter was mailed to notify Ms [redacted] if her account isn’t brought current it would result in negative credit reporting.On 09/20/the reoccurring ACH payment Ms [redacted] setup online on 08/27/was withdrawnOn 09/25/Ms [redacted] ’s bank rejected this payment, again stating they were not able to locate the checking account with the numbers entered by Ms [redacted] On 09/30/Heartland ECSI reported ***’s Perkins Loan as thirty days past dueAs a student loan servicer Heartland ECSI must adhere to laws and regulations surrounding Federal Perkins Loans and credit reportingSince 09/30/we have contacted [redacted] and set her account up on a rehabilitation programUpon completion of the rehabilitation program Heartland ECSI will remove all credit reporting in regards to her Perkin’s loan

ECSI is the loan servicer on behalf of the Department of Education (the Department) for Federal Perkins Loans that have been assigned to the Department Mr [redacted] ’s concerns, as we understand them, regarding his Federal Perkins Loan, are as follows: His Graduate School attempted to notify ECSI that he was currently enrolled and in good standing for a deferment Mr [redacted] contacted ECSI customer service multiple times to advise he was currently enrolled and in good standing for a deferment Mr [redacted] feels that the customer service representative was unwilling to update his loan status resulting in negative credit bureau reporting and him not being able to register for classes due to not having financial aid Mr [redacted] wants his account status updated, all negative credit reporting removed, and an apology for what he feels was poor customer serviceRegarding the first concern, ECSI is not able to provide information about or discuss an account with any party that is not the borrower or authorized party of the borrower Authorization to provide information or discuss an account is required in writing A written authorization was not provided by Mr [redacted] for his school to contact us about his Federal Perkins LoanIn regards to the second and third concerns, ECSI has no record of communication from Mr [redacted] prior to his phone call to ECSI on 10/14/and again on 10/22/ In both instances, our customer service representative provided Mr [redacted] with detailed instructions on how to apply for a deferment Mr [redacted] indicated that the customer service representative was rude, uncaring, and refused to update his account, however, ECSI pulled the call recordings and found no evidence that the customer service representative was rude or refused to provide Mr [redacted] with the information needed The reason for the negative credit bureau reporting transmitted by ECSI was the fact that Mr [redacted] ’s payment for his Federal Perkins Loan was showing past due In regards to the fourth concern, Mr [redacted] must submit a General Request for Deferment form This form can be located on our website at www.eflps.com under Students and Download Forms Instructions are provided on the form We cannot place a deferment on a Federal Perkins Loan account without the proper paperwork and documentation ECSI would be happy to assist Mr [redacted] with applying for a deferment If Mr [redacted] ’s deferment is approved, we will work with Mr [redacted] to update his account to a current status and correct negative credit bureau reporting, if necessary For additional assistance, Mr [redacted] may contact ECSI Federal Perkins Loan Servicer at ###-###-####

Heartland ECSI is the third-party loan servicer on behalf of [redacted] University As part of the services provided to [redacted] ***, Heartland ECSI issues forms to students and/or borrowers that have loans through the University Heartland ECSI does offer a web service for students and/or borrowers to view the status of their tax document and/or retrieve their document if they consented to an electronic form When the student/borrower accesses their loan account, they are provided with a link to view their Tax Information While the alert box does state that all tax documents will be available and mailed by January 31st, it also provide a link to pull their tax document information from the system If a tax document cannot be located, they are asked to review the Student Loan Tax Incentives link (https://cgi.ecsi.net/taxinfo.html) This page provides a resource link to https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc456.html wherein it is stated that “If you paid $or more of interest on a qualified student loan during the year, you will receive a Form 10980E, Student Loan Interest Statement, from the entity to which you paid the student loan interest” After review of Ms***’s loan account, it was verified that she did not pay more than $in interest Therefore, a 1098-E tax form was not generated and/or mailed Ms [redacted] did call our customer service center and we informed her of the above information Additionally, we provided her with the amount of interest that was paid so that she could complete her tax filing and advised that the interest paid in is noted on the bottom portion of the billing statement
