American Student Assistance Reviews (6)

Good evening,The two accounts that American Student Assistance (ASA) holds have been paid in full by the borrowerOne account was paid in full on August 3, 2017, the other on November 6, Per the Notices of Default that ASA sent to the borrower, both loans were paid in full on the respective deadline datesIt appears the reason the first default record appeared on the borrower's credit history is because there remained a small balance of less than $that caused an automated reporting on September 1, That reporting was never caught until the borrower brought it to our attention but we certainly agree with the her belief that the default reporting should not appear on her credit historyTherefore, I have submitted a manual deletion request to all three national consumer reporting agencies ( [redacted] ) to delete this entry from her credit historyPlease allow business days for this deletion to take effectThe account that was paid in full in November should not auto-report since it has a $balance, but I will monitor the account to ensure everything goes as plannedFriday, December is the next reporting date for ASA so I will follow up with the borrower on Monday, December to either confirm that the default record did not get reported or that a manual deletion request was submitted to remove itIn summary, as far as ASA is concerned, the borrower paid off both accounts on the given deadline dates and therefore will take the necessary steps to make sure that her credit history reflects thisThe borrower can call me directly at 800.343.2120, Option 3, Extension if she has any questionsMy office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:a.mto 5:p.mESTI apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have causedMark StruppaTeam Lead, Borrower AdvocacyAmerican Student Assistance

We spoke to Mr*** on May 15th about his account with American Student Assistance, and we discussed his settlement options and the history of the account, which we provided in writing in the attached letter, per his requests

American Student Assistance is still processing this disputeWe are waiting for documentation from other entities and will respond once we have all the necessary information.Thank you for your patience

I HAVE REVIEWED THE DISPUTE SENT TO US BY THE Revdex.comWe currently are not the holder of this loan, but have been attempting to contact the borrower regarding the status of her student loansHowever, she has not retuned our callsIn her dispute, she mentioned speaking to *** *** in
Texas to correct her loansWe do not have anyone working at ASA by that name and neither does ***, who is her current loan holder.Since *** is her current loan holder, she should contact them regarding the interest charges that she feels are incorrect

We reached out to *** *** via email as we could not locate any information regarding her loans in our systemMs*** sent us a copy of her student loan entry from ***It was determined by that we have not been the holder of the loan for over one year and the ASA
address was incorrectly listed on the credit reportWe did additional research and found the loan is held by *** *** ** *** *** and now serviced by *** ***We gave Ms*** the name and phone number of the supervisor for *** *** *** and advised the borrower to contact her regarding this errorWe also contacted the supervisor at *** to correct the address with the credit bureaus

Good evening,The two accounts that American Student Assistance (ASA) holds have been paid in full by the borrower. One account was paid in full on August 3, 2017, the other on November 6, 2017. deadline dates. It appears the reason the first default record appeared on the borrower's credit history is because there remained a small balance of less than $1.00 that caused an automated reporting on September 1, 2017. That reporting was never caught until the borrower brought it to our attention but we certainly agree with the her belief that the default reporting should not appear on her credit history. Therefore, I have submitted a manual deletion request to all three national consumer reporting agencies ([redacted]) to delete this entry from her credit history. Please allow 5 business days for this deletion to take effect. The account that was paid in full in November should not auto-report since it has a $0 balance, but I will monitor the account to ensure everything goes as planned. Friday, December 1 is the next reporting date for ASA so I will follow up with the borrower on Monday, December 4 to either confirm that the default record did not get reported or that a manual deletion request was submitted to remove it. In summary, as far as ASA is concerned, the borrower paid off both accounts on the given deadline dates and therefore will take the necessary steps to make sure that her credit history reflects this. The borrower can call me directly at 800.343.2120, Option 3, Extension 4761 if she has any questions. My office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. I apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. Mark StruppaTeam Lead, Borrower AdvocacyAmerican Student Assistance
