I was called on Aug 11, 2015 (according to their letter) by American Veterans Support Foundation and asked to donate money to help needy veterans - such as helping homeless veterans, providing medical care, food, etc. I have made similar donations in the past, and there were a couple of times that I backed out because it sounded suspicious. I don't know if it was the same organization or not. I offered $10.00, and the lady on the phone said the minimum was $12.00, which I agreed to. The lady said she would send a statement, which I received arounded Friday, September 11, On the back of their letter, they claim to be associated with the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation and gives a non-profit ID #52-2286034 and they say that the donation MAY be tax-free. The back of the letter contained lengthy explanation about their relationship to American Veterans Support Foundation. Their website www.supportusvets.org does not come up at all. And when you google American Veterans Support Foundation, nothing comes up at all. I suspect that this company is fraudulent and preying on people's sympathy and generosity to scam the good citizens of the United States.
