During the recorded call, *** *** expressed her desire to cancel her membership with AWIS but to keep her independent marketing associate (IMA) status with AWIS and therefore the customer service representative *** *** spoke with gave *** *** instructions on faxing in a signed cancellation letter in order to cancel her membership. *** ***'s member cancellation letter was received by AWIS and her membership was immediately cancelled and no further membership charges were madeAWIS had no indication that *** *** wanted to also cancel her IMA account. I recieved multiple phone calls from this business, though they never left messages. I finally called them back after several weeks of random calls and I was placed on automated hold with the following message: Thank you for calling [redacted] "blank" Benefits Dept. Please hold for the next available agent.
Again I was put on hold for a while before the automated message repeated itself differently and more thoroughly: "Thank you for calling the [redacted]. If you have [redacted], or receive state sponsored financial assistance, then you qualify for this service. Please wait for the next agent."
When I spoke to the first person, they said they were calling from the state-but didn't id which state they meant. My phone number is a Mississippi listed number I have had for 15 years (I live in Pennsylvania) and the number they were calling from was also Mississippi. When I tried to ask for more information on what financial aid government department they were from in Mississippi, they hung up. The next few times I called, I got the same person: Ian/caller id 2498-and he finally removed my phone number from their system and told me they would not call me again. I called back AGAIN trying to find out who this company was, and finally got a woman who gave me the name "[redacted]" and was told they operate in every state but Illinois. I asked her why the on hold message said they were from [redacted], and the lady hung up on me.
I called back a 6th time (yes I wanted to get all information on this company so I could report it if necessary: their message is claiming to be from a STATE DEPARTMENT, but they sell health insurance) and talked to a guy who didn't ID himself but was forthright: he said I didn't call their company if I was getting such a message. I told him I was calling the SAME number back every time and he said they operate in EVERY state. I told him a prior colleague of his told me all states but Illinois and he insisted that I must have dialed the wrong company before. He said they are legitmate, despite what the message claims about being from a state benefit department and saying the message was for those who have [redacted], or other financial assistance programs. He said they provide insurance to those who were DENIED coverage by any state or federal health insurance program, even though the message on their business phone was meant for those who HAD medicare/medicaid/state sponsored financial assistance. At the end they either disconnected that phone number that was in use or blocked my phone number: Any attempt to call back so I could record their hold message resulted in a busy signal.
