On April 4, 2014 I signed up for a 6 month contract with Aaron [redacted] at America's Best Defense in Shrewsbury. He mentioned to me about a 6 month contract or an 11 month contract and I opted to do the 6 month contract. When I signed the contract I checked with [redacted] that it would only be until November 15, which he confirmed by showing me where it said end of contract. At that point based on my conversation with [redacted] I was under the impression that I would pay $99 each month until November and then the contract would terminate.I haven't been to America's Best Defense since the beginning of September because I was in Europe for two months. I spoke with a couple different people at member services (their billing company) in the beginning of September in regards to cancelling my membership before November 15th, and they told me that I couldn't get out of my contract until the end date written on my contract. I told them I understood and paid those 2 months that I was in Europe, and yet again was under the impression that when I came back from Europe that I would not have a contract anymore because it terminated back in November.A couple days before I left for Europe (somewhere around September 12-15) I spoke with [redacted] at America's Best Defense and double checked with him that my membership would be terminated in November and that I did not want to continue when I came back from Europe. [redacted] then told me that it looks like I signed up for the 11 month contract, which was not the case because I signed up for the 6 month contract not knowing where I was going to be in a year. He then told me that the end date on my contract does say November 15, 2014 and that he would fix that in the computer. [redacted], my sister, was being billed for the contract and called me to let me know they took out another $99 for December. I am confused because I don't have a contract with them anymore. I called member services about getting a refund on my $99 for December and to find out why we were still being billed. When I spoke with customer service and [redacted] before I left for Europe I was told that my contract would end on November 15, 2014 because that is what is clearly written. I've spoken to a few different people at member solutions and am getting very frustrated with the way they are "helping me with my problem." Every time they say I will get a call back I don't get one. I have had to reach out to them on several occasions to try to get to the bottom of this clerical error that the gym made. The end date was written for 6 months because that is what I signed up for, not 11 months. I was told that my contract will be ending in November and made it clear to the people working at America's Best Defense that I will not be renewing my contract. [redacted], a supervisor at member solutions, is one of the people I spoke with in regards to this clerical error and he was not helpful and told me the only way to get out of this contract would be to pay the full 11 months which is not right. I haven't been there since September and yet I still paid those 2 months because I was told I could not get out of my contract before November 15, 2014. On Thursday December 11th at 5:33 I spoke with someone named [redacted] or [redacted] who was very rude to me on the phone. When I asked for her name after she kept mumbling it like she didn't want me to know because I was going to complain about her. I've worked in customer service and if I ever talked to a customer that way I would not have a job. She then told me that a manager named [redacted] would be giving me a call back that night within 2 hours. I did not receive a phone call back and this is not the first time this has happened. I would really like you to please fix this and make this right. It states on the contract that it ended on November 15, 2014. The reason I am so upset about this is the fact that due to a clerical error I would have to pay $495 to continue with America's Best Defense when I don't even go anymore and was told my contract ended November 15, 2014 and the fact that I only signed up for a 6 month contract. That is A LOT of money and I have a lot going on right now which is why I did not want to renew this contract. My sister got charged for December and it is only right/fair to get a refund on that, and I would like my contract to be changed in the computer to having it end when it was supposed to back in November. I'm not sure what my next step is because the people at member solutions are NOT being helpful nor returning my phone calls. I don't want to have to take this to court. I am very stressed about this and the Holiday's are coming up. I don't have money to be wasting to a company when I haven't been there since the beginning of September and when my contract ended in November and I double checked with people at member solutions and at America's Best Defense that I did not want to renew my contract. Please fix this and make it right with them and me.
