Review: Went to book a hotel room at www.americinn.com. The rate quoted stated "Best Available Rate" and under cancellation policy it stated "free of charge if done by Mar 14, 2014 06:00 PM." With the taxes and fees the $108 rate came to $134. I found a rate for the same hotel on Travelocity.com at $107 with taxes and fees came to $119.47.

I booked the room with Travelocity and went to cancel the room booked on the Americinn website. When I did I received a message which stated "We do not charge a change or cancelation fee…The $9.95 USD processing fee included in the total is non-refundable." I called the reservations phone number to cancel the room and they said the $9.95 fee was not refundable. If I wanted to challenge the "Best Price" term I would have to go online and contact the price matching department. I then cancelled my reservation as even with the $9.95 fee, I was still at a lower rate than with the americinn website.Desired Settlement: Refund $9.95 fee. The rate was not the "best available rate" and the cancellation policy "free of charge" is not accurate if they charge if the processing fee is non-refundable. That may have been listed in the fine print but after viewing free of charge which was clearly visible I was not concerned about a cost associated with a reservation that may have lasted 1/2 hour for a reservation over 1 month in advance.

This email is in regard to complaint #[redacted], submitted by [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] has stated that he booked the reservation through www.americinn.com<http://www.americinn.com>, and was told he needed to pay a cancelation fee of $9.95, when he tried to cancel his reservation. The only problem is that he did not book through www.americinn.com<http://www.americinn.com>, it was booked through a site owned and operated by www.Expedia.com<http://www.Expedia.com>.

I have attached a PDF file that shows that Mr. [redacted]'s reservation made on 2/6/14 for 3/15/14 was indeed made through www.Expedia.com(or<http://www.Expedia.com(or> one of their partner sites), and not www.AmericInn.com<http://www.AmericInn.com>. This PDF includes the confirmation that Expedia sends us once a reservation is made through one of their sites. The PDF also includes two screen shots(one from Google.com and one from Bing.com) showing the search results if you search for AmericInn. You can see how Mr. [redacted] may have been easily confused.

The $9.95 fee is an Expedia fee, and AmericInn has no control over that fee, due to the reservation being booked through a third party.

For future reference, I encourage Mr. [redacted] to book Directly through www.americinn.com<http://www.americinn.com> or by calling our toll-free reservation number at ###-###-####.
