Review: I purchase a Groupon to AMG for a "full exam and blood work". I'm relatively young and healthy. I purchased this Groupon because I was having some symptoms of a rather serious medical condition. I have no insurance, and a full blood panel would have been diagnostic for the particular issue I am having. Instead of testing for that and answering questions related to it, the doctor (who didn't bother to introduce herself and who's [redacted]? accent was so heavy I could barely understand her), chose to lecture me about a piercing I have had for many years and which has never even been infected. I discovered that the full blood test advertised only includes liver and kidney functioning and cholesterol. The Groupon is not very clear about which tests are covered. However the discussion for this Groupon clarifies that this is a "full blood work up". The actual physical exam lasted all of 10 min or less. The Groupon states that "doctors examine the bodies for about 45 min". The doctor chalked my serious medical questions up to a vitamin deficiency and said I definitely wasn't sick (without running any tests). I am not vitamin deficient. I eat more vegetables than most vegans I know and take a multi-vitamin daily. I found out the whole reason they offer this Groupon, is so they can push their monthly health plans. The doctor mentioned these repeatedly and said they could definitely run the tests I need if I would just purchase one of their plans. These health plans would actually be a good value if the attached health care were any good. A few more details about my experience: - The receptionist shouted questions about my medical history and personal info across the room for all to hear instead of clarifying everything while I was at the counter. This is illegal according to HIPPA. - When they tested my stats (weight, height, blood pressure), they didn't tell me what the numbers were. - I provided a urine sample, which they sloppily put on a shelf with other samples. The nurse tossed a few that had already been tested into a regular garbage can right in front of me (not a biohazard can). She then proceeded to test my urine right in front of me with some strips. - When the nurse tested my blood sugar, there was already a used strip in the tester that someone neglected to throw away. Unsanitary. - I guess I already mentioned the doctor who was impossible to understand and who lectured me about irrelevant things. Bottom line - I spent $59 for a medical exam and I have no more information about my health than I did before. I left feeling unsettled, judged and angry. I still have the same medical questions I came in with and will now have to pay someone else to do the necessary tests.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology for the unnecessary and judgmental lecture I received, and a full refund for the Groupon I purchased in the amount of $59. It would also be great if AMG would take steps to correct their HIPPA violations and sanitation issues. I will take further action if necessary.

First and foremost AMG would like to apologize to [redacted] if any of our staff made her feel uncomfortable; in her words unsettled, judged and angry. The staff involved were questioned and reminded of HIPPA laws and protocols that should be followed.

The Groupon promotion [redacted] redeemed covers one doctor visit. The visit covers the following: Physical Exam, Lipid blood test, stool and urinalysis testing for blood. (please see description of Groupon promotion attached) this add can also be viewed at [redacted].

Aside from the Groupon promotion AMG Medical Group does offer a Medical Plan and we do not force our plans on anyone. Our Plans were designed to provide high quality healthcare at an affordable cost to many deserving people without it. We do advertise our Medical Plans on the television in the waiting area and there are brochures all over the office.

We believe [redacted] was under the impression all of her health care concerns would be addressed in one visit. The Groupon promotion clearly states what is covered. The doctor [redacted] was seen by is one of our best physicians and has been practicing over 30 years. The doctor is not [redacted] as stated by [redacted]. She is [redacted] and she is well spoken and has never had any complaints regarding her accent.

Specimen handling is something we take very serious at AMG. All specimens are labeled before they are placed with other specimens. This procedure is mandatory and must be followed.
