Our service performed on 07/11/was for an interior drain pipe as described on invoice #***That invoice describes our Service Technician installing a clean out (access point) on the stack pipe in the kitchen area and cleaning up to the “trap”The trap is the dividing point of the interior
plumbing and the exterior sewer lateral. On 10/25/*** *** again contacted us about a drain baat his residenceWhen our Service Technician assessed the situation it was determined that the current problem was not the same as the problem addressed on 07/11/This was because the current problem was a blocked pipe outside the structure on the opposite side of the trap then what had been previously cleanedWe however decided to address the issue for *** *** at no additional charge for “customer satisfaction”. Invoice #*** describes the work performed on 10/25/17, when our Service Technician attempted to unblock the sewer lateral outside the house by accessing it through the Rain Leader Line (a pipe outside the house used to connect a downspout to the sewer lateral)While attempting that service our technician noted pulling out a “heavy amount of hair and heavy paper build-up”This would be typical of a pipe that had an existing structural defect that would impede the free flow of water and waste through the pipeFor example it could cause waste such as hair and paper products to back up and sit in the drain pipeAfter pulling the waste (hair and paper) from the drain line but having not cleared the blockage entirely our Service Technician again attempted to clear the blockage completely, so as to let water drain through the pipeIt was after several attempts that our Service Technician determined that the drain cleaning snake would not pass a point approximately feet downstream from where he accessed the pipeOur Service Technician notified *** *** of the situation and offered an estimate to repair the sewer lateral in the area where the drain cleaning snake would not pass*** *** refused that service. We feel that we simply identified an existing issue with the exterior sewer lateralWe feel confident that it was an existing issue due to the existence of waste product backbehind the section of pipe we believe to have a structural defectIf it were a new break caused by our drain cleaning equipment as proposed in the complaint there would be neither water backed up or waste sitting in the pipe at that location. Thank you. Brian R***Roto-Rooter
