Review: Last summer, I was seen by Dr. Shah, a PPO provider. I was incorrectly charged the total amount at the time the services were rendered (services included, but are not limited to, 3 crowns and one filling). The office staff, specifically, [redacted], told me that I would be reimbursed once my insurance paid the claims. Some of the services I was charged for were never even billed to my insurance (two of the crowns). I had to submit the claims for the crowns.

I have reached out to the office multiple times to get an explanation of the charges and to request a reimbursement. Each time, the office staff is incredibly rude and is unable to explain why I was billed so much upfront. They always have excuses for why they can’t answer my questions (telling me I was billed for upgrades, or that they are still waiting for my secondary insurance to come through, or that I actually owe more money). When I asked why it was taking so long for my secondary insurance (AETNA) to come through, I was told that the office does not bill secondary insurance. After a lot of haggling, [redacted] finally agreed to send the information to AETNA, however, it was not sent correctly, so they declined to pay the claims.

In total, I was charged $2052.60 by Tustin Smile. This amount was paid out of pocket before any work was done. According to Delta Dental, I am only responsible for $289.80. I have filled a grievance against Tustin Smile with Delta Dental and I am working on filing one with AETNA as well. So far, Tustin Smile has neglected to respond appropriately to my inquiries.Desired Settlement: I want my insurance companies to be billed correctly so that I receive an accurate reimbursement. I want to know why I was charged so much, and I want to know what this office is going to do to fix its questionable billing practices. I also want to be sure that Dr. Shah knows that his office staff is rude, unknowledgeable, and that they represent him poorly. An apology for wasting so much of my personal time would be nice as well.
