our manager immediately pulled the records, saw the error, and agreed to refund the amount overcharged, as well as refund him back what he left the server as a tip, and offered a gift card for the error. He was not happy and refused the gift card. He was mad we were not refunding the whole amount. Our manager explained this was an honest error and, although rare, it happens from time to time with new servers. And we already felt that refunding him his original tip amount above and beyond the incorrect amount, as well as our offer of a gift card was gracious enough. He had no complaints about the food or service. We have been in business for 10 years and have never had someone this upset over a simple server error that all restaurants see from time to time. I have copied an entry left in our manager log by our manager Justin on the day this all occurred. Please see below:
MARIO charged an incorrect tip on 8/11. Customer was not happy so I refunded full tip ammount. Asked for refund for the whole amount and I told him no, since he was here and purchased everything we charged for. Talked about getting police involved and had someone with the bank call me back asking for the same thing. I offered a gift card as an apology but he refused.
