In response MrP***'s complaint,MrP*** did rent two PWCs from our location at Willard Bay, and he did get the additional damage limiter(insurance) for $20. This insurance limits his liability to $1,in damage, it does not cover starting the machine in shallow water because the
damage would not get to $1,500. We always inform our customers that this is major damage insurance, say if you sink a machine you pay $1,and walk away. One of the machines was returned in good shape and the other was returned with only the front of the machine and handle bars above the water level. Basically he had sunk our machine. Upon seeing this we could have assumed the worst and charged him the $1,deductible. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. It's very easy to know that if a machine has been underwater for that amount of time there will be water in the oil. I'm not a mechanic, but I could have diagnosed this. If someone just rolls the machine over and quickly rights the machine we check everything first and then let them know, but when the machine is sunk and has been underwater for so long it's pretty apparent that it will have water in the oil. That's only one problem with sinking a machine, there are electrical issues, corrosion issues, and other problems that can occur. Hunter just diagnosed the easy one. To get the oil out of the engine you have to do numerous oil changes and change the spark plugs. After MrP*** was upset about the charges we called ADS, the local SeaDoo dealer, just to make sure we were being fair. They told us they charge $per oil change plus the cost of the oil and other parts. They told us we charged him less than it would cost there. They also told us to have him call them and they could verify the charges. We did tell MrP*** to call them, I'm not sure if he did because there is no mention of it in his complaint. We ended up doing oil changes and it took our employee over hours to fix this problem. We also started having electrical issues with this machine. We had to refund another customer a half day rental, $199, because the machine stopped working. This is from the machine sinking. We have since fixed that problem as well, but we never pursued any further money from MrP***. Which we are reconsidering after receiving this complaint. This would also include the ($199) and two other day rental ($299). These are down days that the machine couldn't be rented because it was being fixed. One was from when we were fixing the oil issue and the other two were from the electrical issues. All of this is clearly spelled out in the contract MrP*** signed We talked to MrP*** once on the phone. It was bad on our behalf if we didn't cal him back after we said we wouldWe should have called him. this is a busy time of year and there was a miscommunication on who was going to call him back. However; this doesn't mean he is not responsible to pay for his damages. During our check out process we talk about rolling the machine over. We might not go into great depth on it because of time constraints, but we do talk about it. Also, we assess the damage done to the machines and charge the customer quickly. Usually we make them pay for the damages before they leave the park because if we don't we seldom see payment. MrP*** was always treated nice. We were never rude and always tried to be nice. We were straight and to the point so that he understood where we were coming from, but we were never rude. We didn't charge him any down days on the machine, we didn't come back to him for more money when we had to fix the electrical issues, and we actually had more hours involved in the oil changes than we charged him for. He was told if it costs more we will charge him more, if it costs less then we will charge him less. They might have said that if it only took three oil changes, we would only charge him for three, as an example. He was never told this would be the case. Much of this was taken out of context. Just like the stuff about our lawyer. MrP*** said he was going to slander our name all over the internet. That is why the lawyer was brought up. We urge MrP*** to take his complaint off of Revdex.com. We feel he was treated fairly. We apologize for not calling him back. Thanks,
