The customer was measured at our store for a bridesmaid dress.
We always go to the largest and closet measurement according to
the size chart provided by the dress company. We always advise
that the customer choose the size with the understanding that
alterations may be necessary. When the dress...

was tried on it was a
good fit in the waist and hip but the bust was large and needed to
be taken in; we arranged the appt. for her with our seamstress.
Before the customer finished paying for her dress she became very
hostile and threatening toward me complaining about the cost of
the dress the bride chose and the cost of gas spent involved. I,
against my better judgment, took the cost of her alterations off her
balance that was due. She took the dress with her and I thought
everything was fine. She then called three days later saying the
dress was too small and what were we going to do about it; mainly
refund her total expense. I told her we had done all that we could
and refused to respond to her threats so she wanted to speak to an
owner. She accused me of lying when I said the Amrhein's owned
the business and were currently out of the country. That was when
she said she would contact you and I advised her to do what she
felt she had to do. I did not advise her about a bra or other
alterations. She had a problem with paying that much for the dress
the bride chose.

Review: I had an appointment with Amrheins on 10/12/13 to measure me to order my bridesmaid dress. They measured me and ordered it. They had me come in on February 19th 2014 to try it on. It was to big they had this company called [redacted] to measure me to fix their mistake and schedule me to come back in again on March 26th 2014. When I came back the dress was to small. I told them it was to small they told me no and to buy a body bra and wear it so I did and it was to small. When I contacted their mgr [redacted] she told me good luck and get someone else to fix it.Desired Settlement: I had another lady fix their problem. She had to rebuild the dress it took her 5 1/2 hours. I live 1 hour away. I feel they should refund me for at least half of the dress if not the whole thing due to their mistake and for my gas and for having to pay someone else to correct their mistake.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Parcial of her statement was true but a lot of it is not true. I did not have a problem paying for the dress. I have a problem with the fact I paid for a $228.00 dress that they messed up and I had to pay someone else to fix their mistake, it took [redacted] five and half hours to fix their mistake. And I had to pay for her time. She had to completely take the dress apart and put it back together correctly. I live one hour one way to their store so each time I had to go down there it was a two hour traveling time. When we went to get measured for the first time she did not tell us up front that they were going to order the dress big and that it might need alterations. I would have advised her not to order my dress big because that is crazy. No one wants their dress to big. They are suppose to be the professionals and know how to measure you correctly the first time. When I arrived that evening to pick up my dress after it has been altered. I tried it on and it was so tight up at the top that it broke a snap and barley zipped up. I told her and her alterator which her name is [redacted] that the dress is to tight and I have eye whitnesses that heard me tell them that. [redacted] said that she will sew on a stronger latch on and they said to buy a speical body bra and that bridemaids dresses where not made to be comfortable. I was calm when I contacted her and yes I did threaten to contact you guys when she first would not tell me who the owner was she was very hateful and unprofessional. She gave me that information after I made the threat. I have tried to contact the owner three times after our converstaion to talk with them before I issued the complaint and no one would return my calls. I left the messages with her. I don't know if she gave the owners the messages are not but I did tried to contact them first. If you need dates and times I can verify that I logged each time that I called them. I want them to know that they have a dis honest manager running their business. Not only did she mess up on my dress she messed up on the complete order all of the brides maids dresses were messed up and the brides dress too. She had to completely reorder the brides dress due to her ordering it too large. I feel that their manager does care about their customers. All she cares about is getting your money and forget about doing what is right for the customer. I feel that they should have to at least refund me for half of my dress due to the extra time and cost that I have had to endure due to their mistakes. I feel that I am being more than fair.

Review: I purchased my ring at the end of November 2013. I had the ring exactly 6 months when it broke. The band broke away from the diamond. Since I was at my FIRST six month period I took it in to get inspected and fixed. When I first took in the ring they were telling me it was my responsibility to pay to fix it. I said this was my first inspection and I didn't feel I should have to pay since it was under warranty. They agreed to fix it at no cost to me. I had to constantly call to follow up with them about fixing my ring. They had it over 10 days. When I called to see if it was finally ready I was told there was "wear" on the diamonds and since the band was misshaped that I was responsible for having the rungs replaces which are $30 a rung. I told her I had only had the ring 6 months and was still paying on it. In the warranty it states that "Amrhein's will repair or replace the diamond or gemstone jewelry in the certificate for a period of 6 months without charge if found defective due to faulty workmanship or material." This ring was an estate piece of jewelry when I purchased it, if indeed there is wear and tear it has not been from me since I have only had it exactly 6 months and technically since it was from my husband as a Christmas present I have only been wearing it 5 months. The wear and tear must have been existing prior to my having purchases it. I was then told by the manager/owner [redacted] that something could be worn out in a day?!? She also told me it was like a car that if it breaks down one has to pay to get it fixed. I explained to her that cars come with warranty and if it were to break down with in the first 6 months the dealer would pay not the customer. I have not owned this piece of jewelry long enough to have this much damage done. My previous ring I had for 10 years and nothing ever was wrong with it. I feel this ring had these pre-existing conditions and the jeweler doesn't wasn't to take owner ship and fix it!Desired Settlement: I would like for the ring to be fixed with no cost to me.

Review: I was a bridesmaid this summer in a friends wedding. Everything about the wedding was wonderful except getting everyones bridesmaid dresses. The first trip everyone went to try on the chosen dress. [redacted] was the consultant and said they only had one size of the dress for us to try on. The second trip I took in everything I was planning on wearing under my dress and my shoes so I could change for my fitting. [redacted] measured me at the bust and hips, then requested me try on two dresses. Neither dress was the bridesmaids dress we were to order. She said I was in-between size and that either a size 16 or 18 would probably be ok. She said that since I usually wore a size 14, I would probably go up one size. So I ordered a size 16 that day with her recommendation. On the third trip I picked the dress up. I took the dress home and all the feelings of uneasiness grew to a full upset as I tried it on. I immediately called. We spoke for about 10 minutes and I made an appointment to come in the following week. Fourth trip I met with [redacted] again. I was told: 1-I ordered the wrong size, even though I followed her recommendations and measurements. 2- It was the Chinese factorys fault and it was too late to reorder. 3- I could stand with one leg out and pull the dress from the opposite side to make it lay right during the ceremony. 4- I should just lose weight and it would be fine. 5-I could alter it at my own expense.I think she regularly tries to blame everyone for her mistakes/horrible business practices. I told her it was certainly not my fault and I shouldnt have to pay anymore for anything. I asked her for free alterations. I had already paid $214.20 for a poorly made dress that I was led to believe was going to be made for me and would fit me. She finally agreed to send me to one of the few approved alteration houses at no cost to me. On the fifth trip I went to the Lyndas house to start my alterations. She said that if it were her, she would have demanded another dress because the hemline was unacceptable from a professional shop like Amhreins. On the sixth trip I picked up my dress and made do with what I had. She only hemmed one of the two layers of the dress. I then had to get new shoes that were lower. It still had a bulge in the back. Every single bridesmaid had to have alterations to their dress. On this wedding, not including the very expensive bridal gown, they made over $1,285.00 for the store on bridesmaids alone. This is a lot of money, not to mention throwning business to the approved alteration shops that customers were highly encouraged to use. If you do not go with an approved alterations shop, Amhreins cannot be held responsible. Well they dont readily take responsibility anyway. Since the dress was not made to fit me and was a product of faulty workmanship, Amhreins should have at least compensated me with a price reduction.Im upset by the hidden agenda and highly unprofessional practices and comments. The measurements are for show when no ones dress fits. The only thing Amhreins does is collect money and deliver whatever the Chinese ship over to their store. So there it is for what its worth. Amhreins should know better and should conduct their business better. If not, they should have no business.Desired Settlement: Of course a refund would be delightful...but if that can't happen I'd just like others to have a heads up about Am

I can appreciate your distress regarding your bridesmaid dress, and I understand that you just filed a complaint with the Revdex.com when the wedding you were in took place on June 29, 2013 and you purchased your dress on February 9, 2013. AmRhein's has been in business since 1921, which wouldn't be possible if we provided subpar products or services, and we didn't stand behind our business interactions. When you purchased your dress on February 9, 2013, you signed our sales agreement. A copy is attached. It specifically states that "Consultants SUGGEST a size based upon manufacturer size charges and measurements provided. The size and colors chosen are YOUR DECISION, cannot be changed once ordered, and consultants are not responsible for size and color." I can understand your confusion, but it is very rare for anyone to order a gown that does not require alterations, especially if you are between sizes. Gowns come from our vendors based on their sizing guidelines, and are not custom made. "Custom fittings" are provided through alterations. After [redacted] explained this to you, and showed you the sizing charts for [redacted] and ** (also attached), you chose to go with a size 16 for your dress order. AmRhein's does not have alterationists on staff. We do recommend alterationists that we have worked with for years, and again per the sale agreement "The seamstresses that AmRhein's recommends are independent contractors and the CHARGES ARE EXTRA. " Since there were issues with your gown when it arrived from the vendor and you did use one of our recommended seamstresses, we paid for your alterations. We already went above and beyond what is required by us in this situation based on the sales agreement, but we did this in a good faith effort to ease your distress and ensure that your friend's wedding was everything she dreamed of. Sincerely, Chadwick S. Amrhein General Manager
