are different companies and do not have any liability from the prior owner. Regardless of the legal basis we have issued credits, written checks and replaced garments of other customers that we believe had damaged goods from the prior owner. Unfortunately we do not believe we nor the prior [redacted] was at fault with this customer.Regardless of the timing of the original cleaning, we took the jacket in after being with the customer for six to seven months. Initially the feathers had shifted to the bottom of each pocket and you could see through the jacket. We took the jacket and applied mechanical action to improve disbursement of material. We were successful in repairing the jacket. The jacket provided warmth and was not see through after this process.The customer was still no happy with the jacket and wanted a new jacket. We took the jacket for a second time and did the same steps as we did the first time we took the jacket back. There was no change at this point. We also took the jacket to REI and spoke with a salesperson that said the jacket looked fine to him. He also stated that they recommend that customers do not store the jacket in a vertical position for any period of time as this can cause the down material to shift. The customer claimed that she hung the jacket for approximately six months in a vertical position and was not aware that she should care for her garment in this manner.We had eight employees review the jacket ([redacted] who has been in the business for 30+ years, [redacted]., [redacted] and myself). We all believe the jacket is in proper condition and does not warrant the purchase of a new jacket.We would offer to send the jacket to a lab to test but would like to be reimbursed the cost of the testing if the lab states that there is nothing wrong with the coat. The cost of this is approximately $100. We would pay for the depreciated value of the jacket if the lab stated the prior [redacted] ruined the jacket. We believe the jacket is two to four years old.
