We quoted this customer on a replacement part for construction equipment. When placing the order the customer asked about an additional part for his machine so when we went back to check the motor we then found that either the customer had given us the wrong part number or we had looked at the wrong...
part initially. We immediately called the customer and apologized for the mixup as the correct part was a little more money and told him that we had not yet charged his card. He said he didn’t want to order as he got a better price elsewhere. We told the customer we could not match the better price and his card would not be charged. The customer then called back and talked to a different one of our sales reps as the initial sales rep he dealt with was out of office and demanded a better price. We again told him we could not provide the part but he was free to order the cheaper option he got. Again, the customers charge was never charged. We are not sure what else to do for this customer as he found a cheaper option than the one we had and we never charged him for the transaction.
