We are writing to you in regards to a recent purchase of a 1966 [redacted] VIN no. [redacted] from a dealer in [redacted] NY. We live in Australia and had the vehicle exported to us. We believe strongly that the vehicle that was originally detailed to us by the dealer isn't the anyway near the vehicle that we received. We also had an independent inspection done on the vehicle and what they stated the vehicles condition was in also is nowhere near its real condition which made us suspicious of the inspection company. We have contacted the Dealer and Inspection Company and both have pretty much written us off and won't come to any solution. The dealer in particular has ignored our multiple emails and registered letter. We have proof from the dealer and inspection company in writing about the vehicle for example it had an engine rebuild in last 2 years and a frame on restoration, the body is true and rust free, registered and road worthy and has done approximately 100 miles since rebuild. The dealer was also going to put the vehicle in show according to him.

Events that have happened are as follows:-

We officially purchased vehicle in Feb 2012 and had a delay in getting a transport vehicle to get the

car from the East Coast to West coast. Vehicle was shipped in June 2012 and arrived in [redacted] Western Australia July 2012. Once it was cleared from customs we picked the vehicle up and on face value appeared to be great. We drove it home about a 45 minute drive. The next day drove vehicle for approximately another 45 minutes to get brake light globe replaced and on way home the vehicle caught on fire under the bonnet. We contacted the dealer and one of the things he said was "hope you have a good insurance company". We were put under investigation as we only had the policy for less than 48hrs and were cleared. We wrote this off as just a miss fortune expecting once fixed the vehicle would be registered and on the road. Vehicle repairs commenced and appeared the carburettors were damaged and fire wall burnt and some electrical damage. Once fixed the repairer put car on a hoist to check it out to see if there was anything that might need fixing up a little before we took it for a vehicle inspection to get it registered in Western Australia. To our shock what the repairer found devastated us.

1. Rear main seal leaking (but has had an engine rebuild) 2. Sub Frame of vehicle contains severe rust and in the rear it is rusted to the point that there

is only 1 to 2 millimetres of frame left. Very Dangerous 3. New panel placed over rear left hand side of quarter panel and it has been pop riveted into

place and bogged up to hide it and is clearly visible. 4. Trunk was severely rusted out and looks like was cut out and new trunk put in without

removing all the rust or the entire old trunk. It also doesn't match the trunk structure. 5. Rust in the foot wells in the front of the vehicle clearly visible

6. Inside Rear window sill contains rust that is clearly visible 7. Windscreen wipers not functional. Had no pipes/hoses at all to the wiper box. 8. Rear taillights not functioning 9. Interior blower and Radio not working although stated to dealer would purchase if agreed to fix which he agreed to in writing and did not 10. Gear box leaking 11. Heavy smoke discharge from engine oil filler and exhaust 12. Compression test done and one cylinder down 50% and other two decreased in function by 30% 13. Hand brake not functional and looks like has not been for a very long time.

All these things plus more with a car that was supposedly rust free and restored and especially road worthy and licensed when I look at DMV laws for road worthy and safety this car would not of passed in New York. We have been told by our repairer that this car to be fixed we are looking at 10's of 1000's of dollars. We have also been told the car is classed as unroadworthy and can't be registered in Australia in other words we have a pile of metal parked in our garage. We took the vehicle to our Western Australian Government Licensing department and like we thought we could not register the vehicle as it is unroadworthy (report in file). When we contacted the Inspection company about this and told them they had written on the report quote lithe body is true with No Rust" they stated because the vehicle was inspected months ago they say the Rust could of shown up in that time and that they only do sighted inspections and if there was powder coating they wouldn't of been able to tell the rust. My argument with them is that they never should have written that and stated something like - due to the extensive powder coating rust is unable to be determined. Then we would have never purchased the vehicle. Also they state rust could of appeared since inspection but this is untrue and are willing to get a rust expert to prove this. We have never bought a car like this before and were very nervous but even our importer said go to a DMV registered dealer and get an independent inspection and you will be fine which we did. Our importer is shocked and in their many years as an importer has never seen a car arrive so bad compared to the way it was portrayed. We have been instructed by our Vehicle Licensing and Consumer affairs to come to you for help. We have also been told to go to the NY police and report this as car fraud/lemon law? We bought this car as a family dream to pass on to our kids when they are older and that dream have been shattered.
