Anderson Exteriors - Kevin D Reviews (%countItem)

Mr. Anderson gave us a bid for work on our home in February of this year (10 months ago). We signed a contract and gave him a deposit of $5,000. We went for months without hearing from him. We called and were told it would be done by summer. Again months went by with no word. Called again. He stopped by and said it would be after Labor Day. Called again, and he said he would be starting soon. That was at least 6 weeks ago.

I will contact the Klees today. Thought from last phone conversation, we were on track to postpone till warmer weather in the spring. Apologies please. Can certainly schedule next if desired. Have special order products on hand.

Hello *** & ***,

I do understand your frustration and reasons for being upset because your project is not yet done. I apologize for that, and I'm sorry for not being able to be there yet. My pitfall , in a challenging business, perhaps is a bad knack for expressing to much optimism for scheduling according to our work load. It is a pesky thing to reckon with at times. I also feel bad for having not accurately gleaned the extent of your position from our earlier phone call. I've been considering contacting you regarding scheduling soon, but thought your intent was to have us wait until spring.

I wish to present a couple of considerations for you, and it's a plus for both of us that the Revdex.com is involved and to some extent over seeing this. I would still very much like to be your contractor. Your very good people, and there are very good solutions for your home we've come up with together. We'll do a very nice job of these improvements on your home, with lasting and durable products. I can offer to reduce the project cost by $1,500.00, to put some punitive action on myself, benefiting you.

From today, I'm about a month out from being on site, weather permitting. There is some concerns you've expressed about winter work, I'd like to address to see what you think. For the 40 years I've done this work, we've worked outside every winter. Certainly, there are days not fit for being outside. other days we judge or gauge according to the task at hand. We're not silly or stupid about doing something that can turn out inferior or regrettable. Already this fall we've relented to some colder temps and blustery weather. While progressing through your project, we would remove sections of siding, then cover that wall with house wrap, which would afford weather resistance right away. Window installation will go well, as will siding installation. To us, this is not an adverse challenge to adjust to winter conditions.

Or we could postpone until spring. Lord knows the last 2 winters, though hopefully not indicative of a pattern, but the most recent 2 winters kept their grip a little longer.

Certainly the weather has been a factor for scheduling, for me and each contractor I associate with. Starting with prolonged winter season, and a rainy season for the records. We also had one very large project, which took longer than I had hoped. We have not put a siding and window project ahead of yours. We are a 3 man crew, only hiring from my roofing crew at times to assist in siding removal and installation of weather resistive house wrap. I'm not one to utilize subcontractors for my homeowners projects. My hope is that this shows in our finished projects. One of my crew has been with me for 33 years, and is just as conscientious as they come. So 2 of the three us is not as young as once where, but very good craftsman. I say with some certainty that we are not the only contractor with pressure on to keep up with the workload of these times. I've been courted by a large competitor to handle some of their very long list of exterior remodels, and another large window company has called on me more than once to install windows. I've turned it all away, and it pains me to not be more current on my own projects, your specifically. But we are trying.

Your windows, custom made to fit your home, are completed and at the factory. They can't be used anywhere else. The siding you chose was special ordered in and available when needed.

I'll await your consideration to resolve this.

Enjoy the Holidays,

Thank you,

Kevin
