Anderson Toyota Lexus Reviews (2)

I am very disappointed with the service that my family received during a recent visit to Anderson Toyota for service to my father-in-law's Toyota Camry LEWe brought the car to be serviced at the dealership after encountering a challenge while changing the oil of the carI regularly change the oil in my family's cars, including my wife's Toyota Camry XLEOn November 10, 2018, I attempted to change the oil in my father-in-law's Toyota Camry LE for the first timeThese models of Camry have a paper filter, which is inserted into a filter housing which is a permanent fixture of the engineIt requires a special filter wrench to remove the filter housing, which I ownWhen I got under the car to change the filter in the LE, I was surprised to find that the filter housing was plastic, as the filter housing in the XLE is metalMy filter wrench fit the size and grooves of the housing, so I proceeded in trying to remove it to change the filterAfter quite some time attempting to remove the plastic filter housing, I was unable to remove itIt appears that the housing was over-torqued the last time the filter was changed at the dealershipFor fear of damaging the plastic filter housing if I continued to try to remove it, I stopped, filled the car with new oil, and planned to drive it to the dealer to get their assistance in trying to remove the filter housingUnbeknownst to me, the filter cartridge had already been damage in the process of trying to remove it, and when I started the engine, oil began spraying from the filter housingI immediately noticed this and shut the engine off, with the engine running for no more than one minuteAdditionally, there was still oil left in the engine after we turned the car offWe did not start the car again, and instead had it towed to Anderson Toyota, where they serviced the car that weekAfter changing the oil, removing the filter housing, and installing a new filter and filter housing, they informed us that the engine was severely damaged and would need to be replacedThe estimate for the repair was $We asked to see them start the engine, and they strongly advised against it, implying that further damage would be doneWe asked them what specifically was wrong, and they said a proper diagnosis would cost $Their advice was that for the price of the diagnosis and future repairs, it was more cost effective to replace the engineWe told them that we would take some time to think about the repair, as the repair cost was so highAfter doing our own research, we determined that the likelihood that the engine required replacement based solely on the events that we were aware of was very unlikelyWe returned to the dealership and asked them to start the car in front of us before we made the decisionWhen the technician attempted to start the car in front of us, the dashboard display and lights came on, but the engine did not turn overDespite this, we had the car towed home to inspect it further ourselvesUpon getting the car home, we checked the engine oil level and attempted to start the carThe car started with no problem and ran for about a minute before we shut it offWe were encouraged, but did not want to do any damage until we could get the engine diagnosed by an independent shopA reputable, independent shop was able to service the car after the Thanksgiving holidayUpon inspecting the car, running it, and road testing it, the service shop technicians determined that there was nothing that they could detect that was wrong with the engineThey charged us $We have been driving the car for a week since then, and have had no issuesWe check the oil daily and the oil level remains constantAfter what we feel was dishonest and/or neglectful service, we will never again have our car serviced at Anderson Toyota and we will be unlikely to buy a Toyota again

Deceptive Advertising:
We received a mailer in the mail with a traoffer for our *** *** The mailer made three offers: 1) Anderson Toyota would give me $11,8??for my *** - towards purchase of lease of another vehicle 2.) Anderson Toyota would give me up to $3,in purchase incentives towards another vehicle 3.) Anderson Toyota would give me a $gas card to test drive a vehicle I admit I knew the deal was too good to be true - but I was curious My *** was only worth around $6,dollars in trade - but the mailer stated I would get $thousand in trade - and up to $3,in incentives But --- after talking to the salesman and his sales manager - I was informed the offer would only have been good if my vehicle had less than 48,miles on it - which they said was stated plainly in the nearly unreadable (by me) font at the bottom of the mailer I read the miniature fine print - I remember reading about mileage restrictions but only in regard to a leased vehicleNOTE: Anderson Toyota has serviced my vehicle since I bought it used with ~24,miles on it It now has 106,miles on it Anderson Toyota has my vehicle mileage information - and knew I have a "***" - which they must have got off my service record - which "ALSO" retains the mileage of my car They kept the mailer - so I have no evidence of their offer
