Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/29) */
May 29,
On May 5th, *** *** had his Yamaha FZR towed into my shop for repairHe brought the bike with no battery in it, he gave me a battery to put into the bike when I was done with the work*** told me that the
clutch felt like it was not working right and he wasn't able to shift gears, and he also had to ride the bike home in first gear at 10,00RPM at only about lOMPHSo when he brought the bike in, all I diagnosed was the clutch problem, we found that the bold that holds all the clutch plates in place had come off and his clutch basket had a crack in it due to the bolt coming off, so recommended to *** to replace the clutch basket and get a new lock washer to solve the clutch problem*** gave me the ok to fix the clutch problem, so I ordered the parts and they came in in about 5-daysWhen the parts came in installed the all the new parts, got it all put back together, since it had no battery in it when I got, I had to charge the battery he gave me, and his battery tested no good, so I put in one of my own shop batteries in the bike to get it running and do a final adjustment to the clutchWhen 1put my own battery in the bike and pushed the start button, the starter would not engage in turning the motor over, it was stuckI then called *** and told him his starter was stuck and was not engaging in turning the motor over, told him I would diagnose the starter problem "no charge" he said ok, when I pulled the started cover off irealized the starter gears were jammed with the crank gears, so l tapped the gears and got them un-stuck, then & went to fire up the bike and as soon as hit the start button the motor instantly made a weird noise and shut offSo then I examined around the motor and realized that there was a hole the motor on the lower front left side of the block where the crank connecting rod was sticking out of the motor, and not a single drop of oil or any motor case pieces were anywhere on my floorThat's when I realized that this happened when he was riding home at 10,00Orpm at mph, high revving engine and not enough air to cool it offThat's when I called *** and told him what we found out about his motor not cranking overHe then came into my shop on May 16th and picked up his bike and pushed it to a buddies shop
RESOLUTION:
The reason *** brought the bike to me was that the clutch was not working; we diagnosed the clutch, found the problem and fixed the clutch problemThe motor came into my shop with a hole in it; therefore I don't believe it is my responsibility to replace his motor, The clutch repair we did to ***'s bike has absolutely nothing to do with the crank rod being broken or the hole in the motor
