Review: I hired [redacted] to reupholster a valuable deco chair. I had hired him before from a well recommended source with satisfactory results. The springs in the chair needed to be retied, the upholstery needed to be replaced, and the hand carving (wood) along the chair arms, down the front sections of each arm, and across the bottom needed to be stripped down to natural wood. [redacted] insisted he'd do the stripping. He picked up the chair on 11.**.2013. His estimate based on photos was six weeks for delivery at $750. He upped the price to $1100 the day he picked up the chair and left with a $400 dollar deposit. I phoned him often after the six-week waiting period. He didn't return my calls, then promised to bring the chair and never delivered. By early march I still had no chair. Finally, on 03.**.14 [redacted] delivered the chair. I paid him the balance of $700. The upholstery job looked good from the outside. However, he had varnished the wood contrary to our contract. Also, I noticed some bulging blobs on the woodwork. He claimed the varnish had to dry, and then everything would be okay. A few days later, very upset about the wood work and the many odd lumps in hand carving, I took the chair to another upholsterer. We were able to determine that the lumps covered over twenty 2 inch drywall screws each drilled directly into the carving. I phoned [redacted] to explain my upset and asked him to reimburse me for the cost of the woodwork repair, knowing the chair would never have the value of the original carving, which had lasted about 100 years in great condition. [redacted] said he would cover the cost of the repair. However, now I cannot reach him via phone--not on his business line nor his cell. Meanwhile, I hired a woodworker to try to repair the woodwork. In the process of removing the wood from the chair, we noticed that the original upholstery is still inside the new upholstery and that the springs have not been retied. Hence, not only is the woodwork a mess, but the upholstery was never done correctly.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund of $1100 minus the wholesale cost of the fabric.

Review: On September **, 2015 I contacted Andres V[redacted] regarding some rocking chair cushions and a tool that I wanted to have reupholstered. After viewing photos of the items, Andres quoted the job at $250 including fabric. On October **, 2015 I dropped off the items at his shop on [redacted]. He reached out to me two days later to say that he needed an addition $60 for the fabric. I reluctantly agreed and asked if the items would be complete by the following weekend. He said that that they would. It is now November **, 2015 and I have not heard back from Andres. I have reached out to him several times via his cell and work phone (both via text and calling), and have not received a response.

It has been over a month, and I would like my cushions and stool back so that I can take them somewhere else. I appreciate any available help. Thank you so much.Desired Settlement: I would like my cushions and stool back either in original condition so that I can take them elsewhere to be reupholstered, or at the original price he quoted me. At this point, my priority is getting my items back. Thank you.
