Review: I asked [redacted]'s Automotive to install a motor mount (1.6 hours of labor) and to connect the exhaust y-pipe to the catalytic converter. When I called back at the end of the day, they informed me that they had only managed to get to the exhaust because they had been working on that all afternoon. When I went to pick up my car, they told me that they had also fixed a bolt at the exhaust manifold that I had not asked them to fix, and in fact had never even mentioned. They further informed me that 75% of the labor that they were charging was because of this. When I complained that I hadn't asked them to do that, they said that one of the guys had said that I had so they did it. And they refused to make it right.Desired Settlement: I want [redacted]'s to refund me the money for the extra labor that they did that I did not authorize. This equals to about 1.5 hours of labor.

The customer called the night before, after working hours asking if we could get his 98 GMC Jimmy in the next day to install a motor mount and fix the exhaust. Our worker told him to bring it down in the morning and we would get to it as soon as we could since he did not have an appointment. He did not bring it down until later in the day sometime after 11:00am. He had replaced the y pipe that is connected to the converter which is connected to the manifold. In the process he had broken off one bolt to the manifold and three to the catalytic converter and could not put the gasket in because the bolts were broken to the catalytic converter, which would hold the gasket in. In order for us to fix the exhaust we had to remove the broken bolts. This repair is based on a per hour rate, which took our mechanic three hours to do, but only charged two hours for the whole job. After removing the broken bolts he inserted the gasket in between the y pipe and catalytic converter, tightened the new bolts and nuts and then proceeded to tighten the bolts on the manifold to secure the exhaust.

Because we did not get to the motor mount that day we told him he could either leave his vehcle or bring it back the next day and we would do the motor mount for less time than what it called for because we had not gotten to it that day.

He was fine with everything when he came to pick up the vehicle, but said his wife was going to kill him because of the cost. He has a tendency to try and fix his own vehicles and then comes to us to fix what he either has broken or was unable to finish because of inexperience. Considering we did not know what we were getting into because we did not know what he had all done or broken, we could not give him an estimated cost or time frame. This is just one of the numerous times he has brought a vehicle in that he tried to work on and we had to fix for him.

We have all ways tried to be fair, considerate and accommodating to our customers. We will still stand by our offer to replace the motor mount at a lower time frame than the book calls for to help him out.

This all could have been avoided had he had us or someone else in the automotive profession do the work.
