Anesthesia Associates of York (AAY) takes patient concerns very seriously and investigates each oneWe have completed our investigation of the consumer's complaint and have instructed the collections company to close the account and notify all credit reporting companiesAAY receives the
patient's registration form and a copy of the insurance cards from the facility of serviceIt is the patient's responsibility to provide accurate medical insurance informationMedical insurance is a contract between the patient and his/her insurance carrierAs a courtesy to the patient, AAY files insurance claims on the patient's behalfWhile most medical providers and healthcare facilities collect the patient's deductible and co-pay at the time-of-service, AAY first files the claim with the patient's insurance carrier and then, after payment, submits a statement to the patient in the amount of his/her patient responsibilityIf payment in full is not made within days of the initial statement, or satisfactory payment arrangements have not been made with our office, then the patient's account will be in default and may be referred for collectionAAY pays all costs of collection, including contingency collection fees and all reasonable attorney fees and court costs, when applicableIn this instance, AAY timely filed the consumer's claim with the insurer and under the insured ID on recordWhen payment was not made timely, AAY’s third party billing company contacted the consumer’s insurance carrier and was told that the patient had a disability plan only and no medical coverageThe account was ultimately sent to collections for nonpaymentThe consumer received medical services on May 16, 2015, yet did not dispute the claim until November 22, 2016, after receiving notice that the account had been sent to collections for nonpaymentUpon receipt of the letter of dispute, the collections company forwarded the letter and supporting documentation to the billing company for a directive but received no responseThe billing company denies receipt of the letter of disputeNeither company have knowledge of any personal injury settlement agreement as alluded to by the consumerThank you for taking the time to contact us regarding this consumer’s complaintPatient satisfaction is a critical component of patient care in our practiceWe hope the concerns raised in the complaint have been satisfactorily addressed
