Review: Hi my name is [redacted]. I was told by the Virginia Department of Agriculture to call and file a complaint. I wasn't sure if my claim was means enough so I figured I'd ask. My husband and I are now married as of last weekend, we got our marriage license and went through an officiant. We are still having a celebration. Our wedding was supposed to be August 15th but from a financial stand point we thought we should bump it back so it is now October 10th. Back in January when we first started planning, I was talking to this in home baker whom I was interested in making our wedding cake. We went over to her house for a cake testing which was $45. That next week we gave her an $85 deposit. Altogether we paid $130. We signed a contract because we did enjoy her cake. But we were very displeased with her home, it wasn't very cleanly. Initially that was not the problem, the problem has just occurred. I read some reviews on her site, which are no longer viewable, that her cat climbs on the counter and there's a litter box in her kitchen. That is unsatisfactory and I won't accept that. I also saw some very poor quality wedding cakes so I no longer want to work with her. On top of all that I'm fed up, with her not replying at all or not replying in a timely manner and being extremely difficult to work with. So after giving her ample amount of time and chances. I then asked for my money back. She said due to the contract we have $75 of that is non refundable and the $45 does not go toward the cake if cancelled so I wouldn't get that money back. I would only receive $10. I don't think that any of this sounds right. I've asked for a copy of my contract since she never gave me one and she has yet to reply to me.
