Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my dispute.
Please enter your reason(s) for rejecting the business response below.
Regards,
[redacted]
1.  Mr. [redacted] bid the job at $145 in a text message to me after sending him the requested photos of the sewing chair.  When I took the chair, along with the $72 worth of material that I had purchased from the original manufacture of the chair, he stated that he might have to replace padding and that could run an additional $15.  I agreed to the additional cost and he stated that the price of the chair could be $160.  There was no argument about the cost of the labor and additional padding, if needed.2.  When I returned to pay for the chair, I saw the damage to the interior the minute I opened the lid.  I pointed out the damage to Mr. [redacted] and he flat out stated that my chair was already damaged.  That is not true.  I have photos of the interior and there were no staple punctures until after he worked on the chair.  Please review additional photos.  I stood my ground about the staples and he insisted that the chair was damaged when I took it to him.  I knew it would be of no use to continue the conversation and the only way I was going to be able to claim my chair was to pay what he said I owed him.  As to what he did with the washer, there was nothing wrong with the chair when it was given to him.  He caused further damage by using the washer.  The cushion was also not sitting correcting on the chair.  [redacted] noticed that and pointed it out to me.3.  I did call Mr. [redacted] about the damage and his response was that he could cover over the damage, not replace the wood, with extra material that was left over from what I had purchased to do the chair.  That would mean my chair no longer was in its original condition and it is an antique.  Mr. [redacted] effectively destroyed the value of my chair, which was a part of a set which included the sewing machine table.4.  I took the chair to [redacted] so that they could see Mr. [redacted]'s handiwork.  They were shocked at what they saw and also took photos.  That is when I decided not to return my chair to Mr. [redacted] because he needed to replace the wood - not hide the damage he did.  He never contacted me, even though he had my phone number, to ask me to allow him to replace the damaged wood.5.  I contacted the State Comptroller because I wanted to file a formal complaint with them.  Mr. [redacted] did not, at the time I contacted the State Comptroller, have a sales tax permit to operate an upholstery shop.  His sales tax permit is for Angel's Fabric.  That is why he was contacted by the field worker in Arlington.  5.  Mr. [redacted] owes me for the material as well as the replacement cost of the chair.  At today's prices, the chair, which is no longer being made by the company, Stump Home Specialties of South Bend, Indiana, the replacement cost is well over $300.  The fact that the chair is an antique adds to the replacement value.6.  Mr. [redacted] needs to reimburse me all of the $160 he charged me and I will not expect to be reimbursed for the material I purchased, original material still available from the manufacturer.  I will not pursue this matter in small claims court unless I do not receive full restitution of the $160 from Mr. [redacted].Thank you for your time and attention to this matter

I been working for [redacted]
(Local Fabric store) for six years, and I’m proud to be there top most
recommend upholster for the past years. I never had a complaint before, but I’m
glad this is the first one so my associates and I can build from it. I
apologize for the severe inconvenience...

I had with this customer, I can tell you
it takes two to three weeks to work on any type of furniture no matter how
minor it might seem or how big the piece of furniture might be. We talked over
the phone about my mistake under the seat where the storage box goes, and I
asked to bring the piece of furniture back because my work is a hundred percent
guaranteed for the past sixteen years but I never got the piece back. We added
one new washer on the chair to strengthen the back of the chair the rest of the
screws were the original ones .I will admit I didn’t charge her sales tax
because we could not agree on a fair price for my client. Due to this mistake I
will pay for her taxes that I was supposed to charge my customer for. The
reason I didn’t charge sales tax was because my customer thought my first price
was too high not including sales tax. I made exception after my customer pushed
me to drop my price and I came up with $160.00 for my labor cost and we both
agree on excluding the sales tax. After that I did have a city tax controller
come check all my hundreds of invoices personally were I’ve charged every
single customer taxes. This customer did call [redacted] violently about
them recommending me but I do want say they have nothing to do with this. I
can’t return the $160.00 completely but I can give back the 25% back. I don’t
think a full return would be fair because she liked upholstery work at the
first impression but when she goes and checks the inside of the box she was
disappointed.
