Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2016/01/15) */
I would like to correct Mr. [redacted], he used the Party Room at no charge as we do not "Rent" the room. Secondly, there was no cleaning charge added to his bill, I don't know where he is coming up with that. The food he pre-ordered was $116 prior...

to tax. Guests of his ordered and paid for additional food. The only additional charges added to his bill were for pitchers of soda that HE APPROVED, gratuity and tax. 18% Gratuity is clearly listed on the bill for parties, we use only one type of bill for everyone and he was given his or he would not have known what amount to pay. More people than not add more tip,it is not unusual, therefore the wait staff had no reason to question it.
When Mr. [redacted] came in he only spoke to the wait staff with his complaint, never management.
We offer our Party Room to our guests at no charge with only a couple of requests. We ask that they take down their decorations, dispose of their waste in the provided trash recepticles (paper plates, eating utencils, etc.) and return tables and chairs to their original location. The rules are posted in the Party Room. Limiting what the staff has to do is how we can offer our Party Room at "No Charge". I might remind Mr. [redacted] that he did not abide by those rules. NO clean up on his part was done and none of the tables were returned to their original location.
When Mr. [redacted] came in - he requested money back from his server, she offered him the $10 portion she received out of his tip and said that she would request the balance from the other two bus people that were on duty that night (as they were given the rest) and he could pick that up after the weekend. She explained to him that she didn't think the restaurant should be out the money that it didn't collect so she didn't feel right in giving him a gift certificate. Mr. [redacted] refused this remedy or solution to his problem and walked out. Again, he did not speak to management - only to the wait staff.
In his complaint, Mr. [redacted] stated that he will not return to our establishment. Should he change his mind, I will happily issue a $20 gift certificate if he would like.
Since he refused the offer of money from the server I'm not sure what more we can do to appease Mr. [redacted].
This is the very first complaint of this nature that we have ever received. Had Mr. [redacted] requested to speak with a manager from the start perhaps this could have been handled differently. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING further we can do.
Thank you.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2016/01/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
AT no time did I Say you charged rent. My concern is with the Gratuity and cleanup fee. we added %20 to the bill because there was NO itemized bill given to me, that is wrong and when I brought it up, Kayla told me I should have just known. It is NOT the customer who should know, it is the business who should be upfront with all fees. The waitstafff I was told to talk to was Kayla who I was told was the manager, I DID ask to speak to a manager. She never once referred me to ANY management person. I was informed she would be the one to talk to and she would be back on the 27th and that is when I came in. THERE was a cleanup fee of $9and change. I was ONLY given the white receipt and not the itemized bill. The only reason I didn't question at that time was others in my Party did order pizza and I assumed it was theirs and would pay me later. As far as Soda, I specifically told the girls I only wanted water and one pitcher of soda for myself and any others would be paid by the individuals who got them. They decided it would be easier to just add it to MY bill instead of following instructions. I had asked at the time if I could get a gift certificate of $20 and Kayla told me she did not want to take from the Restaurant. Why at that time did she not refer me to MANAGMENT AS They stated??? I will end this dispute now knowing they have an unhappy FORMER customer and do not want the gift certificate. You need better communication at your establishment and try figuring out who is really in charge! Thank you
