Angelo's Towing & Recovery Reviews (10)

*Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The only result that will fix the situation is to have the car repaired by the [redacted] dealer. Statements by Angelo's Towing representative and their partner mechanics with regards to vehicle mileage are speculation. According to my conversation with the dealer, only [redacted] can access the vehicles main computer where the mileage is kept. All I am asking is that my car be returned with the correct mileage and an operational Dash Cluster. Angelo's Towing has implied that I've been trying to tamper with the mileage. If this was the case, why would I ask that the dealer work on the car from the beginning? Angelo's Towing opted not to have the car properly repaired and has asked me to accept a used cluster with thousands of more miles on it. This devalues my car. If Angelo's towing wants to do what's right they'd pay for the dealer to properly repair the car.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Angelo's Towing insists on accusing me of trying to falsify my vehicle mileage as a threat to avoid having to fix my car using proper methods. The irony is that the only entity which have falsified vehicle records is them. They, in this Revdex.com conversation chain and in written emails (attached) to me stated that they believed that my vehicle had in excess of 285,000 miles on it. In this same conversation chain they admitted that they put a used odometer in my vehicle with far less miles then the 285,000 miles they believe my car had. They were OK with doing this as long as it meant that they didn't have to pay a dealer to do the work properly. This argument by them that they are trying to do the right thing is hidden behind the veil of they are trying to save money and threaten their customers until they leave them alone. They claim to have vehicle records which show falsified vehicle mileage and that I am responsible for illegally manipulating my car. They have threatened to report me to the Department of Justice to avoid having to fix my car properly. Any records which they do have were presented with the aid of my long time mechanic by me to establish the correct mileage. I've never tried to hide anything but only tried to have my car fixed properly. I made the mistake of allowing Angelo's Towing to fix the vehicle using their mechanic. Unfortunately their mechanic couldn't do what the dealer could do, that is, align the vehicle mileage with the actual mileage shown in the on board computer. Again, I am asking that they have my car taken to the dealer. It appears that they have agreed to do so. I am concerned that I am going to be left holding the bill. I'll like them to arrange payment to the dealer to guarantee that I don't end up paying for this repair.

Review: My vehicle was towed on September 18, 2014 by Angelo's towing. After towing, the vehicle was found to have considerable damage to the undertow, including both the driver and passenger side frender inner liner and the fender inner liner grommets. Upon noticing this, a damage report was forwarded to Angelo's Towing.

During a meeting in person and again in phone messages left for General Manager [redacted] and another representative, complaints were reiterated. On september 25th, after waiting a week at the request of [redacted], no answer was received, and no response was given until October 29th, 2014, when I returned for another in person visit.

During this time, I also received several invoices from different companies pricing the repairs. When I returned to Angelo's Towing, the representatives rejected the opportunity to view any of the estimates and reported that the company denied any liability for vehicle damage.Desired Settlement: I am requesting $583.96, the entire amount of the estimated costs of repair given to me by the lowest of the three estimates received.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me, as the first step in a full resolution involving Angelos Towing repaying me for the damages caused to my vehicle. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Review: Angelo's towing was dispatched to tow my motorcycle (Pristine 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Superglide) by the San Diego police for a registration issue. When Angelo's towing arrived, I noticed that their drivers were inexperienced in the handling and loading of larger motorcycles and offered assistance and advice for how to properly handle and secure my vehicle. They shrugged me off and said to allow them to do it their way, because in case of any damages, they company would be liable. I agreed, and when I recovered my bike two days later, due to the way it was secured, and their lack of skill in handling the machine, my motorcycle had sustained damage both from the tow, and from it being DROPPED in the lot. I filled out the appropriate form with RoadOne towing employee [redacted] the day I picked it up, and was told he would ensure that a manager from Angelo's towing would contact me. They have since NOT called me, during my calls they have laughed at me, acted like they do not care, told me they are busy and never ONCE have even suggested they care that their negligence damaged my motorcycle and intend to fix it.Desired Settlement: I want Angelo's towing to IMMEDIATELY act on getting an estimate of damages, issuing a check for the repairs, along with a full Refund for the Tow which could have been performed by an actually experienced company, and an official letter of apology. Otherwise, I will engage them in a very costly lawsuit.

Response:

All reasonable care and caution were taken during the loading and offloading of the impounded motorcycle. According to the owner of the bike, the motorcycle sustained damage from being supposedly dropped. The owner made claims of damage to the handle bars, engine cover, and foot controls. The investigation of the claim included review of the condition report, inquiry with the driver, all noted pre-existing damages as well as before and after photos of the motorcycle being loaded and offloaded. After a review of the documents and photos, a follow up call was made to the owner of the bike explaining that the claims of damage appeared to be pre-existing and did not appear consistent with his claim. The owner of the motorcycle expressed his frustration and did not want to further cooperate. Management invited the owner to review all documentation and photos to ensure that all points of the claim were being covered. The owner refused to further cooperate and carried on with idle threats and at that time all communications with the owner of the motorcycle ceased. If you need further, please advise. Thank you,

Review: My vehicle was given road side service by Angelos Towing. My battery died in my vehicle and the towing company performed a roadside repair by installing a new battery. During the repair the electrical system shorted out in my vehicle such that the dash cluster ceased from operating. I had no gas gauge, speedometer, odometer or tachometer. In addition, the dashboard lights did not work. I informed [redacted] of Angelos Towing about the issue and he offered to fix it. When I informed him that I had made arrangements to take the vehicle to the [redacted] dealer for repair, he asked that he have the opportunity to fix it first using his own selected mechanic. I agreed to use his mechanic with the condition that my vehicle be repaired to the same standard of care that the dealer would use. Unfortunately when my vehicle was returned, I found that a salvaged dash cluster had been installed with mileage on the odometer that far exceeded the mileage on my vehicle. In addition the salvage cluster wasn't fully operational as the lights behind the clock and fuel gauge didn't work. [redacted] asked that I take the vehicle back to his mechanic and that he'd correct the problem. Unfortunately when I did this, the repair still wasn't sufficiently completed. The broken salvaged dash cluster had been replaced with another dash cluster with fewer miles but still not my actual vehicle miles. The second cluster also seemed to have some glitches as it would sporadically turn on an off. When I pointed this out to [redacted], he informed me to take it back to his mechanic again. After having given him the chance to fix it properly twice, I asked that I bring it to the dealer with him covering the bill. Mr. [redacted] unfortunately has made the issue my problem to deal with as he insists that his mechanic fixes it.Desired Settlement: I would like my vehicle repaired by an authorized mechanic with OEM parts. I would like the vehicle mileage on the odometer to match the on board computer in my vehicle.

Response:

We did replace the cluster with a working used cluster. He stats that we didn't. We did. The issues is that he wants us to change the mileage. His mileage from old cluster was over 200K and he say it is supposed to be 114K. So I shared with the shop. The shop said the mileage was over 200K. I told him that the shop working on his car can't do that. The shop ran a mileage report on the vin and found out the mileage had been tampered with many times and changed. So I then explained that we couldn't change, only replace with other used cluster. I have many emails documenting the service and conversation. I am willing to do what is right, but the shop we used will not change the mileage. Thank you.

[redacted],On December 29, 2015 I contacted Mrs. [redacted] I believe or her mother. At this time I explained the situation to her due to her stating that someone stole $300 out of her car that we towed. We were called on the scene to remove the vehicle that was blocking traffic lanes from a traffic collision December 26th by CHP. When I spoke to Mrs. [redacted] I explained that there is a vehicle report that is completed by the officer and on this report it is all noted of all valuables and what was in the vehicle and what was wrong with vehicle. The vehicle was locked and remained locked where we dropped it at Renty Collision Center. I did let her know where she could obtain this report or we could send. And in her complaint she stated that the guy laughed at her and was not trying to help her. That guy was me and I was very professional and did everything I could to explain the process and help. I have a attached the copy of the vehicle port CHP 180. I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you Sincerely,

Review: My motorcycle was impounded on Friday 9-19-14 and was sent to the Mission Gorge location. Both friends and family, along with myself, spoke with representatives at the company's corporate office and were told that we would not be able to get the bike out unless we came in by 6pm that Friday. We were further told that they are not open on the weekends at all, and nobody is ever available to assist with getting the vehicle out on the weekend. I went to the Mission Gorge location today to pick up the bike, and the man who works that location told me that there are always people available on weekends at any of their locations, you just have to pay an extra fee to get the vehicle out. I was told to contact a manager by the name of "[redacted]" and have not had a return call. The woman who answers the phone refuses to let me speak with a manager. They, in turn, have cost me hundreds of extra dollars to get my vehicle out of the yard. This is simply not good business practice, and is deceitful. I would like a refund of my money. There is also damage to my bike that is going to cost me extra money to get fixed.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the money I had to pay to get my bike back.

Review: On June 13, 2014, Angelo's Towing did service through my insurance AAA, was send to tow my car from [redacted] Avenue, San Diego CA [redacted] to NEX NBSD Autoport [redacted] Bldg [redacted] San Diego CA [redacted]. I did recorded mileage (Cell phone photo of my Odometer) of 4.2 miles. When the driver ([redacted] ?) arrived he told me that I have to pay him $ 40.00 , I told him that my AAA insurance entitled me 7 miles free and show him in my CP odometer pic of 4.2 miles only. He told and threat me that I have to pay, otherwise he won't release my car. He is intimidating and I was stress out wanting to have my car fixed ASAP, I did write check # [redacted] pay to Angelo's Towing for $ 40.00 (Angelo's Towing claim June 17 that show in my NFCU Statement of Account). I felt that the driver is dishonest and mean making wrongful claim against me, poor customer business representation of his company and for the AAA Auto Insurance.

(I have the CP pic of odometer showing the right mileage & yellow copy of the Towing Report receipt).Desired Settlement: Explanation and apology with refund check. Whatever Revdex.com desire to do regarding this complain.
