Dear Ms. [redacted],I am writing to dispute the complaint identified as number  [redacted], submitted on February 14, 2018.  The customer alleges that she delivered a fur coat and a wedding dress to my business for consignment which we did not enter into our system and instead stole from...

her.  This is utterly and completely false.  No such items were ever delivered to the shop.First of all, it should be noted that her complaint is addressed to the wrong business.  I am the owner of Angel's Rags to Riches, Ltd.,  which I incorporated in January of 2018.  The customer claims that she delivered the items to the store in November of 2017, when the store was owned by [redacted], who died unexpectedly in December of 2017.  I worked as a sales clerk for Ms. [redacted] for nearly 10 years.   When she died, I bought certain assets and liabilities of the business so that her daughter would not have to close down the store and bankrupt it, a result which would have left countless customers without recourse for their consignments.But as a practical matter, regardless of who formally owned the shop, the important  point is that this customer did not deliver the items that she claims to have delivered.  This customer brought items into the store for consignment for the very first time on November 1, 2017.  I was not working as a sales clerk on that date.  The sales clerk who did receive some items from this customer on that date was Linda M[redacted].  Per our regular procedures, Ms. M[redacted] entered all of the items into our computer system with a detailed account of each item and with prices attached (copy attached).  There could not possibly have been a wedding dress included in these items as the customer now claims.  In all of the 28 years that a consignment store has operated from this location, wedding dresses have never been accepted.  This fact is expressly noted on the store's consignment agreement (copy attached), an agreement which this customer filled out and signed  at the time she consigned her other items.  The other item which the customer alleges she delivered, a fur coat, was also not delivered.  Whenever a fur coat is accepted for consignment, the first thing the clerk does is to call the store owner (Ms. [redacted]) to contact an appraiser to obtain a realistic price for which the coat should be offered for sale.  Because no such coat was ever received, it was not entered into the computer, no call was made to the owner, and no appraisal was obtained.It should also be noted that this customer is, by her own admission,  emotionally imbalanced.  On December 12, 2017, she telephoned the store in hysterics to accuse us of having stolen her wedding dress and fur coat.  She demanded a complete list of the items she had consigned and stated that she had consigned clothes at three other stores which had always paid her for them, but we did not.  I have contacted the three other consignment store in our vicinity, and all of them reported to me that this is completely false, as they have nothing in their records to reflect that this customer had ever consigned any items with them.  But the most telling part of the story is this:  three weeks after this hysterical telephone call, the customer strolled into our shop as if nothing had happened, and she sheepishly stated that she had been going through a very emotional time lately.  We gave her the requested list of items that she had actually consigned, returned all of her items to her, and she calmly left the shop.For this customer to defame my name and my business by calling me a thief has hurt me to the very core.  My integrity has never been challenged in this way, and I have been working  in this business for the last forty years.  I have always upheld the very highest standards of decency, honesty and human fairness.  Now that I am an owner, I love this business with my whole being and want to give clients and customers the best experience possible.  I cannot understand any rational reason why this customer would feel such hatred toward me as to spread this [redacted]ble lie. Please feel free to call me anytime if you would like to ask me any questions concerning this case.                                                                        Sincerely,                                                                        Angel S.
