Angles Unlimited Construction Reviews (%countItem)

We had three main issues with Angles Unlimited: dates, materials and workmanship:

The work crew left our job site in May, unfinished, and have not been back to complete the work. It has been one excuse after another.

Some defects that remain outstanding are:

*One look at the stairs and you can see that they are uneven, unfinished and unsafe. The bottom step is a full two inches higher than all of the others. We consider this a fall risk.

*The drip cap/flange was never installed at the end of the deck, allowing water to seep into the ceiling of the room below. The contractor installed a different material than specified in the plans. They refuse to name the manufacturer of the materials and without this information, we cannot hire someone else to fix the problem.

*Due to water seepage, the ceiling in the room below was sagging. They never fixed the ceiling so I hired another contractor to repair this.

*They never completed the punch list so there are nail holes, pencil lines, window stickers, gaps, etc that have never been filled in. The caulking around the windows were misapplied and oozed from behind the frames-obvious signs of a lack of professional pride.

*The window panels were clearly installed with hammers instead of nail guns, as required of the product-resulting in dents and scuffs in the surface.

In addition, the contractor missed 3 meetings with the inspectors which to me just seems completely unacceptable. The inspections had to be rescheduled and obviously the inspector was not very happy. But the company refused to take responsibility for missing these meetings.

The job was estimated to take 8 weeks but now its been over 8 months.

Angles Unlimited Construction Response • Sep 30, 2019

Dear ***,
Thank you for your thoughtful and well written communication and you are very correct in stating that there are two sides to each story. Our story is even more difficult because it requires an understanding of seval issues -- construction, engineering, and legal matters. For this reason, I do not expect the issue to be easily understood by most layman. This is precisely why in my contract, which *** signed, I have a clause that reads in essence that in the event of a difficulty, the matter should be
taken to arbitration. The choice of an independent arbitrator who has the experience in both legal matters and architecture/engineering and building is the best to person to look at this issue and determine fault and compensation. This is what I believe is the only way we can resolve our differences.
For almost six months I have tried to make my client move towards resolving our issues with an arbitrator, with no luck. I have expressed my willingness to have it go in front of a mediator, with no luck. I have suggested that we each get our lawyers to negotiate an equitable settlement, with no luck. It is not fair to list my grievances concerning my client to you or anyone other than an independent third party. I think *** and I have exhausted any avenue to resolve this matter directly between the two of us and without her willingness to resolve this matter with some sort if independent, unbiased person/system I see this matter as being perpetually unresolved.
If the Revdex.com can intervene in some way to get our client to see this is not a personal matter but a difference of opinion, in which the only reasonable method of achieving settlement is to hand it over to professionals who's job is dispute resolution, would be a positive outcome. One I would readily agree to.
Thank You
Malcolm F
