Animal Clinic Northview, IncCenter Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, Ohio (440) 327-• FAX (440) 353-To Whom It May Concern: [redacted] was presented on 5/26/after being hit by a carHe was extremely painful and had an obvious fracture of the left, front limbAfter initial triage, he was given injectable pain medication and sedationAdditionally, thoracic, and abdominal x-rays were done, showing no sign of obvious internal traumaThe left, front limb had a complete and displaced fracture of the radius and ulna, but we were unable to get additional views without an increase in pain medicationsAt that time, the owner was told " [redacted] ***" would need surgery to repair the fractureOur orthopedic surgeon, DrDavid K***, would not be in until the next Tuesday, so we would have been unable to do the surgery until thenA referral was offered to another clinic once the pet was stable enough to be transferredWe recommended hospitalization to monitor for signs of internal trauma and to also control painOn 5/27/17, we rechecked x-rays to confirm that there was no progression of any internal traumaThe pet's toes on the left, front limb (the same limb that was fractured and was splinted the day prior) were swellingWe had to sedate the pet to re-splint the limbThe pet was still in extreme pain and required injectable pain controlWe again discussed referral to another clinic with the client to hopefully get the surgery done soonerThe client was unable to find a hospital that would be able to do the surgery at an earlier dateThey did not want to take him elsewhere if surgery could not be performed soonerAfter the bandage change and pain medications, the pet was more comfortable and could stand on his own, although he was very vocal, likely due to a combination of anxiety and painDrJenifer G [redacted] , the overnight emergency doctor on staff, determined at that point that the pet was comfortable enough to be sent home and that much of the vocalization was coming from anxietyThe owners were told that the pet could be brought back the day of the surgeryThank you, DrAmy P***, DVM
