Animal Clinic of Queens Reviews (1)

Review: I brought my sick cat to this business two days ago. She had escaped and been outside for two months before she came back to us. She seemed very sickly, so I brought her to this business to get an idea of her overall well-being. After seeing [redacted], I was reassured that she seemed ok (after drawing blood, IV, a shot) and would need to be watched for about two weeks. They sent her home with a medication and a prescription for lots of care. She died two days later. When I inquired about the false hope he provided, he blatantly lied about the lack of severity of the situation he conveyed. He said he offered services that were declined. I had a friend with me and she too refuted his false statements. I'm left with a $226 bill and a deceased member of our family.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund. There is no price on the emotional toll this took on myself and my children, but they shouldn't give false hope to a family just to rack up a bill. It's inhumane.

Response:

Upon examination of [redacted], [redacted] stated that the pet was [redacted], [redacted], and had a [redacted]. At that time he recommended a complete blood panel and fecal to determine any underlying sickness, malnutrition, parasites or infection. Financial concerns limited the diagnostics performed. The owners had declined the full blood panel and fecal, but agreed to the [redacted] and [redacted] test that came back negative the following day. The patient was then given [redacted] and [redacted] and further sent home with a [redacted]. The doctor explained to the owner that without doing the recommended tests we would not be able to diagnose the symptoms that [redacted] was having. After finding out of [redacted]'s passing we did also offer a necropsy to further determine the cause of death and therefore give closure to the [redacted] family, but they too declined that. At no time did we give false hope of [redacted]'* condition. Instead we explained that diagnostics are needed to determine the cause of symptoms.

[redacted]:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID#[redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: Although I did refuse certain diagnostic testing, they were just that, diagnostic testing. If [redacted] knew the severity of her state, as he is claiming, he should have offered to have her put down as a humane alternative. Instead, he said that she seemed well, besides being severely under weight and that I should come back in two weeks. I don't believe that these are the words of doctor who is truly concerned about the animal's well being or that she might be near death. That to me is a definite issuing of false hope. In addition, if [redacted] didn't feel his words were misguiding why is it that, when brought to his attention, he denied the accusation and blatantly lied about offering boarding services?
