My complaint against animal health center has been resolvedAfter my husband spoke with the vet, the vet is issuing me a check for $99.00.I hope they stick to following what people consent to and nothing more without calling or discussing things with a pet ownerI left phone numbers and no one called me at anytime to clarify and discuss my rabbit and the changes that took place before the surgery even startedThey assumed I would be ok with them proceeding with what they felt was proper and I felt that the surgery was unnecessary after it was discovered this rabbit was a female ( since my other one was afemale) there would be no chance for any rabbit getting pregnant and therefore this surgery was unnecessary I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me Regards, [redacted]

Review: I dropped off what I thought was a male rabbit to be fixed, the rabbit turned out to be female. I was never called before surgery to confirm that I still wanted the rabbit fixed after finding out it was a female. The office went ahead a fixed the rabbit and billed me 159.00. I didn't need the rabbit fixed if it was a female. I already had a female and thought this one was a male based on how it was acting around the other rabbit. I signed a consent for surgery to be performed on a male rabbit. After contacting the vet/office I was told by the Dr that the girl who checked me in said I gave "verbal consent" to fix the rabbit if it were female. This is not true, I signed a consent form for a procedure on a male rabbit. I should have been called before the surgery and given this new information and asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the procedure after finding out the rabbit was female. I paid the bill when I picked up the rabbit. I told the girls at the desk and the vet himself that the rabbit never needed the surgery, if I would have known it was a female I wouldn't have wanted the surgery. I told them that they should have called me first to see if I still wanted the rabbit fixed after finding out it was a girl not a boy. They seemed to brush the whole incident under the rug and refuse to acknowledge that there was an error and haven't tried to remedy the situation at all.Desired Settlement: I would like an acknowledgement that there was an error on the part of the vets office. so that this type of error doesn't happen to someone else. I also feel like I shouldn't have to pay for a surgery I didn't consent to. I would be happy with a 50% refund. I never gave verbal consent as the lady at the desk stated. That is a lie and next time the office should have everything down on paper, a copy given to the customer/pet owner so this type of thing doesn't happen again to anyone else.
