applied and are tested for feline leukemia, which

On 10-26-15 S[redacted] called to and described that his kitten
had been coughing up blood a few days prior to his call and subsequently died.  S[redacted] and S[redacted]a have not brought any
paperwork to us on what happened to the kitten. They described that they just
dropped the kitten off at Arroyo Grande Veterinary clinic to be taken care of.
From what we understand from S[redacted] and/or S[redacted]a the kitten
had not been examined by a veterinarian since they purchased kitten and the
kitten was not taken to the vet at the first signs of vomiting blood.
Some of the more common reasons for a kitten to vomit blood
are Trauma, ingestion of a foreign object, exposure prescription medications,
poisons (cleaners, bug sprays, toxic plants, harsh flea control) and heatstroke.
Unfortunately S[redacted] & S[redacted]’ lack of responding to
clinical signs of distress and a lack of a necropsy offer no explanation as to
why the kitten passed away.
S[redacted] wanted a new kitten as a replacement. He was angry
and frustrated, but they had not done their part to show they had provided
proper veterinary care for the last kitten.  I cannot put a new kitten in that situation.
S[redacted]a did not call. S[redacted] did. He was accusing, yelling,
cussing and kept insisting, we sold him a dead cat.  I understand a situation like this can be
stressful and sad for all parties.  We
are obviously saddened by the loss of any pet. We provide a lot of care to make
sure that our pets are ready to move into their new homes. If either S[redacted] or
S[redacted]a had taken the kitten into a veterinarian as soon as they had found the problem
there may have been some answers.

Review: We bought a kitten from this store and it died less then a month later. We went to the store to see if they could do anything for us and the vet recommended it. The owner A[redacted] said he would see what he could do and call us back. When he didn't call we thought we would call him he then proceeded the curse at my husband. He also told us that our house was unsafe and that we did not take care of the kitten. Which is completely untrue and this man doesn't even know us. He is completely unprofessional and straight out rude.Desired Settlement: I would like this to be looked into considering he owns a pet store where he is selling animals to people when there could be something wrong with them. He is just in it for the money and not the actually safety of the animals. And I would like some kind of refund from him since he can't be professional enough to talk to someone who has a complaint.

Response:

It is with a heavy heart that we are responding to this

complaint by S[redacted]

On 9-24-15 S[redacted] purchased a kitten from our Santa

Maria location. All of our kittens are vaccinated, dewormed (for round and

tapeworms), have advantage applied and are tested for feline leukemia, which

had a result of negative. Each kitten comes with a complete shot record with a recommended

vaccination/deworming schedule and a free veterinary exam at VCA Animal

Hospital.
