A basic Health Screen blood test was administered along with medications to treat [redacted]'s medical condition. Euthanasia was not discussed. A recheck was set up December 21st.

On December 21st, 2013, [redacted] was examined on a recheck. Specialized was provided and a basic blood test was administered for Glucose. The client indicated that [redacted] was eating and drinking OK was non-mobile. Home nursing care was discussed. Euthanasia was not discussed.

Client was not charged for an office visit or an exam. Client was credited for returned food. This is the first time that euthanasia was discussed for [redacted].

I have included copies of invoices for the three appointments. There were no medical procedures performed on [redacted]. Two blood test were administered to assist the doctor in diagnosing [redacted]'s medical condition. Medications were also provided for [redacted]'s medical condition. The client authorized all of the tests and medications. Our records show that euthanasia was not discussed until the final appointment on December 26th.

The three invoices total $552.82. I do not know where the client disputed amount of $723.43 comes from.

We are sorry for the loss of "[redacted]". It is hard to lose a pet. The actions that were taken to try to help "[redacted]" were done with the full permission and understanding of Mrs. [redacted].

Please feel free to call with any questions.

Sincerely,

Review: In July of 2015 I brought my dog in to see the vet because he was having issues both eating and drinking. At that time the vet did a check up and told me he(my dog) had a mass growing in his mouth that would need to be surgically removed and gave me an estimate of surgery of $240.00. Because of the fact I only work part time it took a while to save the money for the surgery. I called the vet on the 21st of January 2016. They told me because they had already seen my dog regarding this issue they would give a free exam to check on his mass in his mouth. With me there the vet performed a routine exam, had me open my dogs mouth so he could check for the mass, then told me not only would he perform the surgery, he was going to perform it that very day January 22, 2016. He said my dog would be ready for pick up about 6 pm that evening. Because I was working I had my daughter pick the dog up for me. Before that happening the vet called and told me that because of my dogs age (12yrs old) they had to draw blood from him to ensure he could make it through the surgery. Then they proceeded to put him under to perform the surgery, however said the mass that they had said was there on two separate occasions wasn't there and he did not need surgery after all. They said the $240.00 surgery was now $300.00 because of the blood work performed and I would only be allowed back the $180.00 for the cost of the surgery. The $120.00 cost for blood work and putting him out would not be refunded. My boyfriend called them on two separate occasions to try to get the $ refunded after my failed attempt and all they did was try to justify their reasoning as to why they would not refund the $, which is because they ran the blood work and put my dog out. I would never have agreed to the surgery if two different vets on two separate occasions did not say my dog needed it because of the mass growing in his mouth. I just want my $ back, and to be done with this clinic. My dog was missing diagnosed of two occasions. not my fault!Desired Settlement: I just want to be refunded my $120.00 back. My dog being mis diagnosed on two occasions by two different vets is not something that I should have to pay for.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted], First and Foremost, We apologize for any inconvenience in this matter. The complaint ID is [redacted] and was submitted on 2/2/2016 by [redacted].On July 7, 2015 [redacted] was seen at our hospital and was diagnosed with gingival overgrowth at the right mandible. Due to Mrs. [redacted]r financial situation she declined to do the services. On January 22nd, 2016 she returned to our hospital to do the services for [redacted]. Due to the age, the doctor decided to do a pre-op blood work to make sure the dog was safe to go under anesthesia. While the dog was under anesthesia, the doctor found the pet had a deformed jaw and fistula. So excising the gingival overgrowth could further damage the ability of the pet to eat or drink. The doctor offered the client services to correct the fistula but the client declined. Here at Animal Medical Center we provide the best veterinary care to our highly valued patients and do a very honest business. However, we would like to resolve this issue by giving Mrs. [redacted]r a one time courtesy by refunding her money. We are not in this business for money and would like to refund her because she was unsatisfied with our services. Please contact me at they above address or by phone if you have any further questions. Sincerely, [redacted]
