Our regular vet sent us to ASC on an emergency visit when our elderly dog was acting strangeIn such a circumstance you don't think to [redacted] a business but boy do I wish that I did! On our second visit we were told that Bella would need a MRIWe we're told that this would be in excess of $and we had to pre- pay for the services- in advance! When we went to pick Bella up we couldn't see her until our bill was settledWe went to settle our bill and we were told that we prepaid more than the services and we were issued a creative for our overpayment and then we're allowed to see our dogWe were leaving for vacation that dayWe were told that we would have results in a few daysWe were called, on our vacation, by DrJ***, not to tell us our dogs results but to tell us that they had " undercharged" us at checkout and that we owed hundreds of dollars more!! We got home and told a few people in the industry and they have never head of such a situation! We were advised to call

On Monday, Oct *** we took our dog, *** ***, to the emergency room at ASC in Yonkers, after being seen by his vet, who advised us that he might need xrays and surgery, and recommended we take him there Every time the front desk person called us up, it was to give us an estimate and asked for a deposit, which was required in order to proceed with the next stepThe first amount required was $which we put on our debit cardWe were told they had to do xrays to determine what was going on and they would have to sedate him When that was completed, they called us up and again to give us an estimate to keep him overnight because he needed surgery When they told us the amount, again a percentage was required to keep him in the hospital When we told them we didn't have the money, they told us they couldn't move forward until we came up with the monies The individual (Chris) offered us to sign up for a program called CareCredit which they participated in He also me

Review: I took my cat to the Animal Specialty Center as it serves as an Emergency clinic 24 hours and my cat had started urinating blood after my regular veterinarians business hours. We called this clinic and they urged us to bring my cat in, which we did. Once we got there, I was distraught and visibly shaken with the situation. My main complaint steams from that. I feel like this clinic took advantage of the fact that I had no place else to go and my cat was in need to medical help. They ran a number of tests on my cat including an xray and a urine test. All of which my regular veterinarian had said were unnecessary. They gave me a preliminary diagnoses of a UTI, which my cat has a history of. I told the "veterinarian" at this clinic that and that my cat also had a history of a blockage in his bladder, he had become very ill just one year prior with the same issue. They claimed to have given my cat fluids, which I did not witness. Even after telling us that they believed that my cat had a UTI, they did not send us home with any medication to help clear up his UTI. They did send us home with pain medication for my cat which only made his condition worsen. When I brought him to his regular veterinarian, he immediately told me to stop giving him the pain medicine because it was completely unnecessary and what my cat really needed was antibotitics and that he had no idea why we were allowed to leave this emergency clinic without antibiotics. I feel like this place just decided to load us up with tests that would inflate our bill. We had NO idea of what the cost would total to we were completely misled about that! Based on the numbers they had given to us, my total should have been 300-400 not the nearly 800 dollars that it actually was! On top of that, after 8 days of waiting for my cats urine test results, I have received no answer and have gotten nothing but the run around to get some answers that no one seems to have. And I do not believe that the fluids they said they gave my cat at this clinic were ever administered because when my veterinarian performed a blood test on my cat to check his kidneys, he told me my cat was dehydrated. Why would my animal be dehydrated if he was just pumped up with fluids? This place has terrible customer service and no one can answer my questions because they took my money and that's all they wanted. TERRIBLE.Desired Settlement: I want my money back. They claim to have "treated" my cat but they didn't even give him medicine to rectify the situation!! If I didn't seek a second medical opinion, my cats condition may have worsened and he potentially could have died!

Review: Dear Revdex.com,

In November 2014 I scheduled an appointment for my 4 month old kitten with VCA Animal Specialty Center to see their cardiologist, [redacted] I specifically scheduled with VCA Animal Specialty Center because they explained that as a 501c3 organization I would receive a discount for the services. The day of the appointment, December [redacted] they advised that I did not bring the proper IRS paper work indicating I was a tax-exempt 501c3, even though I already provided a copy of my tax exempt certificate. At that time, they told me they would charge the full amount, $613.05, and I could email the form later to receive the refund. On January [redacted] 2015, I thought did just that. Then, they explained that what I sent was not correct and they were seeking another form. Now, by this time I had sent them a letter from the IRS indicating my 501c3 status and, again, a copy of my tax exempt form. So, I had to dig into my files deeper to search for the letter. Finally, on February *, 2015 I sent the correct letter only to get a return phone call from them explaining that I would not receive the discount at all and that I had been misinformed. Evidently, the doctor that I saw was considered an external vendor and they did not offer discount services for him. I spent 8 weeks digging through my files to send them the information that they continued to ask for and not one person pointed this issue out. If at the time of the appointment I would have had the correct letter I would have received the discount. I do not believe that I need to suffer for the lack of incompetence that came from this office, starting the day I made the appointment. Animal rescue is tough on the heart and the check-book and I depended on this discount to make room for this cats’ other medical needs. With that, I am seeking the discount refund that I am due.

Thank you,

Consumer

Review: On February *, 2013 I and family friend brought my cat Pharaoh to the Animal Specialty Center for an MRI, because the cat was dragging a paw. I was advised that the cat would be placed under a general anesthesia during the MRI. When I inquired as to who would perform the anesthesia, I was told it would be performed by qualified anesthesiologist. Later on the day I received a call that during the anesthesia procedure, complications arose which included a pneumothorax (rupture of the lung due to pressure in the cavity). Ultimately the MRI was never performed. When the cat's lung continued to lose air, an operation was required to save cats life. Cat stayed in hospital for 5 days and was discharged on February **, 2013. Upon inquiry, I was advised by Animal Center that contrary to what I have been told, the anesthesia was performed by technician, not an anesthesiologist. All the treatment the cat received during his five days stay in the Animal Center was based on the problem that resulted during anesthesia. Since February **, 2013 I made several attempts to get in touch with director of Animal Specialty Center which was unsuccessful.Desired Settlement: We need to pay the bill which included all treatments which cat had during his 5 days in the Animal Center. We want to get reimbursement for all the action that took place in Animal Center.
