Review: I adopted a puppy from this shelter in mid October of 2012. At the time, they charged me $300 which included shots, veterinary exam, micro-chip and neutering the dog. However, since the puppy was only 4 months old, and too young to be neutered, they told me that they would refund $100 of the cost of getting him neutered. They instructed me to mail in the receipt for the procedure and they would send me the check for $100. I immediately took the puppy ([redacted]) to my vet to have him examined and verify good health. He had some tape worms which he was treated for immediately. Durning which time they informed me that he did not have a micro-chip installed in case he was lost. The vet has a universal machine that picks up any type of chip. I immediately called AWSOM and informed them that the dog did not have a chip. They assured me that they would send me a micro-chip in the mail so I can have my vet install it. This would undoubtedly cost me an additional fee. I did not receive the chip and called several times to have them send it to me, since this was included as a portion of the adoption fee. I am writing this on 03/28/2013 and after several messages, letters, and phone calls; I have yet to receive aforementioned micro-chip. I live in Philadelphia and it is unreasonable to make the trip to receive this chip. Furthermore, I took [redacted] to get neutered on 01/11/2013 and sent the receipt via mail, as instructed to do so, in order to receive the $100 refund for the cost of the procedure. the procedure actually cost $500 over all. After several messages, letters, and finally a phone call; I received a check yesterday in the amount of $75.00, $25 dollars short of the agreed upon refund since it was charged to me as part of the adoption fee. They indicated that the $100 refund was the cost that their vet charges them for neutering a dog. I am very dissatisfied that they have not met their self imposed obligation of the benefits received in exchange for the $300 adoption fee chargedDesired Settlement: I would like the micro-chip sent to my address so that I can have it installed by my vet. I would like AWSOM to pay for the cost of installing the chip in the puppy, since it is advertised in their literature that all dogs come with shots, micro-chip, and neutered as part of the $300 fee. This fee is $100 higher than mature dogs because of the costs of neutering a puppy. I would also like the $25 difference from the check I received. I received $75 instead of $100. thank you.
