Date: 6-12-17 From: Tim C[redacted]  To whom it may concern,  This job that Mr. [redacted] is talking about consists of only four small cabinets and a small countertop. Total installation costs for those cabinets and related trim in this market should be about $375. I was taken back when Mr....

[redacted] said that it cost him hundreds of dollars because of the mistake in measuring. So I asked the installer how much extra time the mistake actually did add to the job. He told me two hours. He charges his time at $40 dollars an hour. I then emailed Mr. [redacted] and informed him that his unilateral underpayment of $300 was unacceptable. He contested that I had even spoken to the installer or that he had told me it took two hours. He also presented reasons why it cost more than two hours. So I called the installer to see if he had documented his time on the job or if it could possibly have taken more time. He had not documented his time but he said that it could have taken more time than he previously stated. He also stated that he had not charged for any tool set up or breakdown when he returned to the job. I then emailed Mr. [redacted] saying that I would allow for four hours or $160 off the bill. Mr. [redacted] refused that offer but also stated that he had documented the installers time. When I asked for the documentation he refused to give it to me. Mr. [redacted] then went on a smear campaign against me stating that I have no integrity and that I did not own up to having made a mistake on his job.  When the installer called me and told me of the problem on the job I went out to the job the next day, agreed with him on a solution and ordered a new cabinet immediately. The cabinet arrived in three weeks but the installer was unable to get back to this job for a week or so. I also took the countertop and cut it down to the new size which the installer specified and brought it back out to the job. I acknowledged the mistake and immediately set in motion a remedy at my expense.  I have been in the cabinet business for over thirty five years and have favorably resolved similar issues many times. Normally I do not question a customer but in this case I felt that Mr. [redacted] had greatly exaggerated the cost to him and I thought I would challenge him on it. I maintained my integrity in this matter, but I did question Mr. [redacted].  I will allow this underpayment but I will not agree with this customer that I did not act with integrity or acknowledge my mistake.  Sincerely    Tim C[redacted] Animas Kitchen & Bath LLC

I accept Mr. C[redacted] acceptance of my underpayment because that is the offer I originally made and it is fair. However, he did not hear from the installer that the time overage was only 2 hours. I tracked the time and it was clearly 5 hours. I have the installers invoices to prove it. He originally quoted me $400 to do the install. The invoices are for $660 the fist two days when the cabinet was installed and modified due to incorrect measurement. Then another invoice for $400 when the counterop was delivered late. Then another $220 when the replacement cabinet was delivered. Not all of this was due to the installation error, but it troubles me that Mr. C[redacted] continues to deny the facts in this case. In any case. I am happy to close the mattre. [redacted]
