This issue starts with the customer doing an engine and transmission swap. He was given the first clutch kit based on the information that he gave. He wanted a clutch other than the original that came off the engine. Apparently it was installed and even though it didn’t seem right, as he stated, he started the engine and exploded the throw-out bearing. This is not considered a defective part but installer error. As a courtesy the clutch kit was credited back to him. The second clutch matched the one that he took out as per his request. He was told to compare all parts in the kit and if installed the kit could not be returned. The customer tried to return the second clutch kit after he installed it. He was told before this complaint was filed that I would check with my sales rep and either the clutch would be returned or he would receive credit. The clutch kit was returned to him on or before June 5th. I do my best to help my customers and am sorry that I have failed to satisfy this customer. It is against policy to refund installed partsI made that very clear to him. I did take care of the first clutch kit as a courtesy and he was told that the second kit would not be returnable if installed. I feel that I did my part. It is up to the mechanic to determine suitability when changing engines and transmissions. Inexperience on his part does not constitute continued warranty on my part.
