Ansonia Westfield Veterinary Hospital Reviews (%countItem)

Approximately around 7/13/2020 *** cat to the vet for what the Dr. P diagnosed as s***. *** charged $*** for service, office visit, 2 shots which had nothing to do with visit and antibiotics. During the visit Dr P a female doctor advised if the *** was not better to return to the office.

After following the doctors instruction and administration of medication the *** did not get better. *** made another appointment for 8/11/202. *** I took my cat to the doctor on 8/11/2020. When I meet with Dr. P the first thing she sated was the visit was going to cost more money without even looking at cat. The cat was still in the carrier. Then she stated the cat would need a workup, which would cost another $*** for office visit and $*** for workup and medications. I asked why the workup was needed for ***, *** The Dr. refused and ordered me *** of her office. I never got any paper work.

About 5 minutes after leaving the office, *** she could no loner treat the cat.

Ansonia Westfield Veterinary Hospital Response • Aug 17, 2020

On 7/13/20 - *** came into my hospital not for an *** as what was stated in the complaint. The presenting complain***" As we have written down in the clients record. The client was charged "***" for an office visit, nail trim, flea and tick medication x 3 months, an injection for ***. The *** were NOT the primary problem at this time - *** presented with a *** Owner at this time declined all diagnostics and workup - so we sent *** home with medication for the sickness. The ears was a "by chance" issue that was NOT contributing to ***'s symptoms at the time of the visit. She also only received ONE shot - and we did not do vaccinations at this time because *** had a fever. The owners account as stated above - is inaccurate. I have everything documented.

On 8/11/20 - *** called before ***'s appointment and spoke with Dr. P and said that ***'s ears were no better. I told her there would be a recheck fee for me to look in the ears and have a discussion as to why they aren't responding ***. Unfortunately, there is always a recheck fee - and the owner knew this coming into the appointment. She sent her father in for the appointment. *** He KNEW coming into this there was a charge, ***

A slightly tensed arguement pursued as I was trying to explain to him that he did not spend $*** on ***'s EARS alone - she came in for a separate issue. He was not ready to listen. His voice started raising. I felt like it was important that he understand that his last visit was NOT for her ears - I didn't want him to feel like he spent $*** on her ears - because he didn't. He spent $29 on ear drops - the rest was ***. But as I previously stated - he didn't care to listen. *** I then explained that if she still has an *** after the ear drops then there is a reason for it. ***. She might need more antibiotics, or testing to figure out what infection she actually has. Owner said he didn't deserve to spend any more money because he already spent $*** but he wasn't understanding that the $*** had nothing to do with ***'s ears. Any further treatment would obviously need payment - which the owner was refusing. My hands were tied. I wasn't going to give him FREE treatment - and that's what he expected me to do for some reason. At this point he was shouting at me. My staff heard this and can back me up.

I felt like communication was just not happening and I also felt very uncomfortable at his tone - and told him that I felt like he would be better at another hospital. *** I said I will get a copy of his records and told him to leave *** I opened the front door - I told him I would mail him his records. ***

***

This statement "Then she stated the cat would need a workup, which would cost another $*** for office visit and $*** for workup and medications" NEVER HAPPENED. I never said that. ***

***

*** I will not refund any money because services were provided and used accordingly.
