Review: July 1, 2013 I renewed my computer tech contract that I previously had with Buddy Tech affiliated with AVG. It was $119.99 for a year. On July 20th I had an issue with my computer and was told that my contract was limited so I upgraded for another $49.99, only to find out that I was dealing with Answersby. I call AVG and they said they were not affiliated with Answersby, I felt as though It had been misrepresented however I needed help with my computer and their information says they are qualified. Long story short after 9 phone calls and 15 hours on the phone my computer was corrupted, programs partially uninstalled files corrupted and I was still having the same issues. I tired calling customer relations and was always transferred to a technician. No call back from customer relations. I decided to dispute the credit card charge and Answersby rejected it. They sent my bank pages containing the service they provided and say they are entitled to payment. What wasn't taken into account the service they provide was inferior to what they advertised, and that they are actually doing more damage to the customers computers. When searching for an address to enter this complaint I found web site after web site with complaints similar to mine. I never did find an address or contact for Answersby. It was in the complaint web sites that I found that they were affiliated with Gateway. Consumers shouldn't be forced to pay unqualified technicians that are spending hours destroying peoples property and call it a service. I was able to contact an associate that was able to restore my fragmented programs, delete unwanted software installed by Answersby, and finally uninstall my HP printer and re install it and all is working fine. Very simple fix after what could have been potential disaster.Desired Settlement: Reverse the charge to my credit card
