Ante-Bellum Apartments

Review: As a tenant of the Ante-Bellum apartments, I was often harassed by the landlord, [redacted]. He entered by apartment without permission or notification of any potential work being done. He also failed to respond to my complaints of apartment conditions in a timely matter. For example, my water heater was not fixed until 4 days after the complaint was made. In addition, my guests were harassed and asked continuously if they were living with me, who they were and their purpose for being there. Most importantly, I gave Mr. [redacted] ample notice that I would be moving and that I would be thoroughly cleaning the apartment for the final inspection. After the inspection, I was informed that I would receive my down payment ($1,190) in total if no issues were found. I spent countless hours with my friend ensuring that the apartment was in its best condition. Mr. [redacted] refused to accompany me during the final inspection and thus sent the maintenance man, Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] looked at the entire apartment with me and found no errors. After some days, I was waiting to received my check from Mr. [redacted] and did not. After a slew of conversations, back and forth, he made me believe that the check was already sent to me. After over a month of waiting, I received a check that was only 26% of what was given ($310). I then had to physically pick up the check as it was never sent to begin with. The check had my name spelled incorrectly and was accompanied with a copy of a handwritten letter from Mr. [redacted] that described the apartment as filled with dust and grease and a bill of $880 for the cleaning labor, which was in complete contradiction to what he and I had discussed on the day of the visit. The cleaning labor bill listed the date that I moved out of the complex, February 28, and March 1 & 3, which by that time a new tenant had moved. Lastly, I informed Mr. [redacted] that I would see legal counsel on this matter, which he said was not necessary.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that Mr. [redacted] remedy the situation by providing me with a check of $1,190.00 which was the agreed upon and paid as a down payment by myself at the time of move-in. I was a resident of the complex for more than a year and have had numerous unpleasant encounters with Mr. [redacted]. I am a very hard working young woman who works diligently to live a proper life and am very disheartened by the way in which Mr. [redacted] treated me throughout my stay and the situation.

The landlord has not contacted me about making my issue right so I took it a step further and I am suing him for false information on not given me my deposit back.
