Inability to repair my clock and even though the work was said to be guaranteed, all of the payment was not returnedTall case clock was running irregularly. Had not been cleaned and oiled lately. Took it in July 2015 and [redacted] said because it was the slow season she would only charge me $900. Got the clock back and it only ran for a few days and ran worst than it did when I brought it in. Between July and January 2016 took the clock back and she came to my house multiple times, with no positive results. The clock has never worked properly since it was taken in. The excuse was it was an old, 1800ish, clock. I talked with a reputable repairman and he said that's ridiculous and she did not know what she was doing. After threatening small claims court she finally agreed to return $450 of the $900 I paid her. I also talked with an antique dealer that tried to sell another antique clock that she had destroyed and I have also read an negative review on a website. This woman needs to be exposed, so that others may not be ripped off as I was.Desired SettlementRefund. We have extensive knowledge and experience with antique clock and watch restoration.In this specific case, the clock presented unusual limitations, for example, the woodenplates of the clock could not be separated to access the gear bearings which presented a huge repair challenge.Nonetheless, we spent countless hours and effort attempting a successful repair but were unable to do so - thus the refund of $450 to the customer.We have a "No refunds, All sales final" policy clearly posted on the wall of the shop, but recognize that some accommodation should be made in difficult cases like this. An accomadation that is fair to both parties concerned. Consumer Response The clock does have wooden plates, but the repair person. Could easily see that and if she was incapable of working on a clock like this she should have so stated and not accepted it. The company may have been in business for 37 years, but it was her father, not her for 37 years. Question is how long has this woman been trying to repair clocks. I also talked with the most respected clock repairman in the Triangle and he said she had no training and knew nothing about clocks. I also read a review on a website of another unhappy customer that she had destroyed his clock and he warned to stay away from her. She said her work was guaranteed.
