Horrible experience!! Hire a building contractor who will do it right. The lack building knowledge from Antiquity Acres will end up costing you more time and money. They are difficult to deal with and fail to follow through on requests and concerns. Here is what is left for the homeowner to fix.
East side of building leaks waters during storms. Water seeps under the wall and is being absorbed into untreated wood sheeting. The framing of the overhead door and access door are resting on the concrete as well as the sheeting on the east side. This wood will rot out in short time.
There was little or no attempt to nail the siding to the studs. The interior of the building has Thousands of nail points sticking through which is a huge concern for the safety of my children.
The soffit on the east side is 9 foot long. The builder said it could span 9' without nails. I had specified nails every 3 feet. The soffit now blows up and down with the wind due to the lack of nails. Some areas are spanning the full 9' and are sagging 2-3". Most areas sag 1-2" and have 1 nail at 6 foot and then alternate to 3 foot in the next piece. (1 nail every 32")
There are few or no nails laminating the cripples by the windows and doors. AA claims there is only a downforce. (Ummm.... WIND)
The access door header has 3 nails holding it in place to the studs on each side. When the access door is closed there is a wave of movement throughout the wall. The header also was notched out for the door and has a 1/4" gap by the stud where it is not nailed.
The fascia is horrible and has large unsightly ripples. This needed to be shimmed which was not done.
The starting row of shingles is 1/2" back from the drip edge and the edges are not straight.
Some shingles had nails 10" from the edge which were blowing up in the winds.
There is siding falling off from top on 2 sides.
There is plywood sheeting that was not fully nailed in the center on at least 1 piece. At the floor between the studs, there are gaps between the sheeting and studs where there are no nails.
Siding was started flush or above the sheeting on the sides. The siding will eventually rot at the bottom. The siding should be 3/4" below for water shed.
Siding was lapped the opposite direction of my many requests. AA thought it was better the other way? Who's the customer here?
Siding is not fastened under windows.
siding is wavy.
The corners of the building are out of plum by up to 1" over 9'
The interior framing for the overhead door was short and 2 small pieces were put in. They are pulling away from the wall after the door was installed. The studs on the side should have extended a foot above the height of the door.
No drip cap was used on the overhead door.
The vapor barrier was not installed to the bottom of the sheeting. I had to request an additional piece to be put in at the bottom. This was installed without being lapped properly.
I had to request additional fasteners in the window install. I felt 3 was inadequate over 3'
No waterproof flashing was used around doors or windows. I had to provide it myself.
I paid a restocking charge to builder after he ordered the wrong garage door. No refund was given for not putting supports under lean-to.
